I also felt pretty good about what I saw from the offense Sunday night despite the lack of TD's. The pass protection and down field attempts were the biggest positives for my money. I think once Sanchez trusts his o-line again we're going to see some really positive things from him and the offense.

Yeah, it was pretty good considering. Sounds weird to say, but it actually looked better despite the dry streak continuing.

The run game when Shonn Greene still looks very pedestrian and not effective, though.

Good read. With normal play calling the touchdowns will come. Also the receivers need to make sure they catch the ball.

But preseason means everything and is a true indicator of where we stand!

This is getting borderline retarded. Here's some stats: 2008 Lions went 4-0 in the preseason and scored 80 points. Then they went 0-16. For science.

I don't care about wins/losses, I don't care about TDs, what I care about is that our QB who has struggled to be a pocket passer actually excelled at it, and our o-line which has struggled to give him time, gave him time against a team right in the middle of the pack in terms of pass rush.

Sanchez was a Holmes drop and two Hill botches away from a damn near flawless first half against Carolina's starters. It was extremely uplifting heading into the season. Not because of the stats, but because Sanchez was finally efficient doing something he's struggled doing. I don't care who you're playing against and when you're playing against them, that's a positive sign.

And if we're looking at the preseason as a whole, a QB who has never completed 60% of his passes completed 68% of his passes. Again, that speaks to more than just his accuracy, especially when he played in the pocket for most of the game he played the most amount of snaps in.

    Stafford - 3rd

Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Alex Smith all threw for 0 TD's in preseason.

Yeah, I think the preseason talk is getting a little ridiculous. I don't think I've ever seen so much scrutiny coming out of preseason.

All of this attention, I chalk up to essentially the Tebow factor. For whatever reason, the Jets are getting far more national attention than a team that went 8-8 last year deserves. I chalk it up to a back up QB that gets more press than most starters in the NFL.

Very true, and it was Holmes first action after his rib injury so he probably was playing a little less agressively than normal. It was also Hill's first look at realtime regular season game speed, taking fullspeed hits and all. Plus it was Sanchez first action with Holmes this preseason and his first time with Howard starting at RT which can make a QB a little nervous and possibly change the way he plays. Still Sanchez looked good out there. He had his confidence and actually lead the team down field. I think thing will be okay with him this year.

at this point, the offense would look better under tony soprano. you can bet paulie walnuts would not put up with all those dropped passes. schillins might become a pillar of the community in the literal sense.....

    This.

Sanchez looked really good and only had one poor throw (out to Epps). Besides that he looked really good when given time and place to step up

Can you imagine if it were Chris Christie as the OC of this team?

Now that you mention it, I don't think anyone has ever seen Rex and Chris Christie in the same room at the same time.

it's at the point where anything possible, the media endlessly bashes the Jets and the fans just go into a hizzy and start freaking out. It's amazing to me how people buy into what the media says so much. If ppl really think the Jets are going to be dead last in offense this year they are completely out of their minds.

at times it's comical and at other times its downright frustrating.

    Nice.

I kind of chalk the offensive issues up to protection first in the new system. Second issue is the Jets have preached run first attitude so opposing teams simply made a point to try and stop the run knowing the Jets would try hard to establish it. Third, the Jets had a lot of injury issues to an already weak WR corps.

I have all the faith in the world that Buffalo will make the Jets look pretty good. I hope.

The biggest highlight of the game was not the improved pass protection, the deep throws, or how the defense looked. It was seeing Holmes educating Hill on how to attack the ball after his drop for the pick. That shows alot about this team right now, and Holmes's attitude.

I've read a couple articles talking about how Holmes has become a mentor for the young receivers this season. How Hill in particular is attached to the hip with Holmes or the WR coach all the time.

Heard all TC that Holmes was being a leader to the younger guys.

I take next to nothing from what i saw in preseason on the offensive side of the ball.
And if the defense was told to play vanilla also than look out every team we face.
