http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/14683/in-depth-look-at-howards-performance I'm beginning to wonder if it is possible that we'd be better off w/Ducasse at RG?
I like what Ducasse has done, but Moore has been doing it for a long time. Give him this year. He'll still be solid. This will probably be his last year as a starter with the Jets. I was extremely impressed with Howard, hope he can keep it up.
Good article. How do surmise that Ducasse is a better option than Moore thru anything we've seen so far tho? Moore is still consistently doing his thing, and is a very solid player at RG. Now what i could see is Ducasse being a backup G, and potentially replacing Hunter on power TE packages. Was very impressed with Howard, and really really hope what we saw was the real deal.
Eating the ball at the end of the 1st half should surprise nobody. Sparano never had a 2-minute offense in Miami. He's a conservative, celebrate FGs type of coach.
Running the 2-minute drill is NOT the OC's call. Its all on Rex and I think he was right not to run it. Why run the risk of an injury when you already had 3 injuries in that game (Harris, Keller, Baker)? They run the 2-minute drill against one of the leagues elite D every week, the Jets D in practice.
I think Rex has been praising Moore too much to just cut him. It's one thing to praise Hunter, but he's gone out of his way to call Moore a great player and a Pro Bowler. That's not like the praise he gave Hunter, which was more trying to prop him up. I do like the way Ducasse has played. I think we finally have some decent line depth with him and Smith hopefully. If Howard can be an average starter, then we can have a good line again.
People here call Rex a hypocrite for praising his players and then releasing them the week after. Well, its the NFL. I wouldn't want my coach to be calling out players in the press conferences and raising some eyebrows in the locker room. Im fine with what Rex had to say about WFH and Im neutral (due to cap effect) with what Tanny did with him today.
Replacing Moore with Ducasse right now would simply be foolish. Has Moore shown that he NEEDS to be replaced? The guy has been doing his thing for quite a while now, and he's very adept at it. If Ducasse is finally showing something, he can keep working to get better till he does have to replace Moore. Till then, Moore is the man.
Good point. Moore is going downhill but he's still got enough in the tank to handle his role. He's also got a crap load of experience and that's what I want next to Howard as he tries to get adjusted to his new role with the team. The RG must also handle having a RT learning his role this season. Give this job to the vet.
haven't watched him too closely in other games, but Moore is the one who got beat and caused Conner to get stuffed on that 4th and 1 play against the Giants. He got turned and Bernard ran right over him to hit Connor in the backfield.
