I feel much better about our offense after the game. We were in a position to win at the end of the game, which is more than we can say for our previous 2 games. Dumb penalties are killing us, but other than that, soooo much better
He was getting his ass kicked by the twos no doubt. It may be his contract that's keeping EZPass on the roster. Its certainly not his play.
Watch out the clowns on here will attack you. They prefer to take the negative approach after 3 pre-season games which is idiotic. We've implemented a new offense which hasn't even been unveiled yet. The true test will be the Bills game not 3 insignificant pre-season games. I appreciate your effort to look on the positive side and not fall into the trap of over reacting.
Wayne Hunter Cut the Beast.... The positives is Coples looked outstanding as well as Ellis. Demario should of got reps with the 1's because Bart Scott is good at Run Defense but slow like he is running in sand during passing situations. We need to play to our strengths
You're right, but it's hard to be too tough on him when 1) he's a rookie, and 2) he was the leading receiver with 5 receptions for 68 yards on 7 targets, so it's tough to be too hard on the guy.
Good thread, I wholeheartedly agree with the OP. Compared with the Giants game the starting offense was like a different team. Sanchez looked good, confident and decisive. Great pass protection - only 1 first team sack by my count. That personal foul and Hill's drop were the killers, but its preseason, thats where these type of dumb mistakes should be happening. Plus with the D looking as good as it is I'm getting much more optimistic!
Despite the lack of TDs the offense looked a lot better. Relieved to see good play out of Howard at RT. Hunter was awful again, they need to cut him, and eat his contract, good going Tanny.
How Hunter managed to remain the starter over Howard for the first 2 preseason games confounds me. Aside from that, Sanchez looked sharp and getting down the field seemed pretty smooth. Redzone is an issue that practice can fix. Greene was a disapointment for me... Sanchez airing it out was more successful than our ground and pound which kind of scares me. For the most part, though, i'm pleased.
was i watching the same game? other then howard not being a turnstyle like hunter, the offense was pretty bad. we still couldnt run, especially in short yardage. we still were awful once we got in opponents terriotory, we still were under a bunch of pressure and took a bunch of sacks... and worst, we still ddint do anything when our defense got us the ball in great field position. and that against a pretty average, lackluster defense
It is progress one week to the next. Its obvious there not going to open the playbook and show anything yet.
What most people fail to realize is this is the first game where Mark has his full set of receivers in there. They are learning a new offense and have to get their timing right. Howard def improved the line. Sanchez wasn't running for his life half the time. Also as far as missing Plax in the redzone......fuck that. lol Wildcat with Tebow will def makeup for his loss. The wildcat will also help the offense outside the RZ as well. So overall I'm not worried much, if at all. We will click. And when we do, we will be alright.
I thought the offense looked pretty good on the whole today while Sanchez was out there. Some personal notes. Hill has excellent potential, but needs to catch that ball he dropped. That easily could've been a long completion, and I think that was the reason he dropped the ball. I think the throw was perfectly timed, and he had a shot at a big gain, and took his eyes of the ball, rather than an inability to just catch the ball. If you noticed, on all the other catches he made after that, he tried to settle into a spot and just catch the ball rather than doing it on the run. The ball in the end zone would've been a really tough catch, so I can't really blame him for that. Sanchez looked good at times, and the protection seemed much better. Howard should be here to stay. My expectations were nill, but he really seemed to do such a better job than Hunter, that it's amazing that we had Hunter in there as long as we did. Ofcourse, once Hunter was in the game as a backup, the pocket collapsed around Tebow as usual. Shonn Greene might not be the best back on the team. To me, Powell looked far more explosive in hitting the gaps and getting extra yards. I think they might want to look at atleast splitting the carries a bit more between them. Tebow can't really throw. He can run though. I thought overall it was a pretty good day on offense, besides every TE getting killed out there.
Agree. Oline looked much better. Austin had a good performance and seemed to lock down RT. Sanchez had time to throw and was decently accurate, RBs ran hard, dropped passes hurt and short 3rd and 4th down situations need work. Mcknight and Kearly looked good returning kicks and the D played lights out. Laundry will be huge vs big TEs. Still worried about LBs covering out of backfield. Would like to have seen an offensives TD, but they will come. I'm excited again.
