I know this may seem far fetched, but here me out... I have read alot on how Mangini helped Troy Brown play on D, so I was thinking ...why not Brad Smith? This kid is an athelete. He will probably be used as the #4 or #5 WR and on special teams. So why not use him in the Dime package? Thoughts?
i like the idea but i dont know if he could be as good as even our 4th or 5th corner who dedicate their career to stopping the pass i see where your coming from though, would be pretty cool (i think they should use Champ Bailey alot more at WR!!!)
No. They only reason they did that with troy brown was because of injuries. Let him learn wr before we start thinking about other postions.
Assuming Miller and Dyson start, we have Strait, Mickens, Barret, Eric Smith. I dont think DB is a problem as of right now.
+1 Isn't learning wr and then learning to be the trick play qb in our scheme enough for the rookie. At least troy brown was an established wr before going to the other side of the field
Troy Brown didn't need to learn 2 positions.. he already played WR, and he volunteered to play some DB. Brad Smith is still learning how to play WR. Leave it at that man.
wtf is this thread? troy brown had EXPERIENCE which gave him versatility. brad smith is a rookie. let him adjust to playing wr first.
Also, Troy Brown did not like the faction of him playing Corner...He did play it, and pretty good at that, he did not want to.
about 7 of you posted the same thing about brown being a vet and smith being a rookie, i think you guys got the point through
Strait Coleman Coleman Washington Maddox Rhodes Miller Dyson Mickens Barrett Smith I think we have enough depth at DB. He'll be need more at WR.
what would be the purpose of that...we're stronger at corner than we are at receiver, so why not let the kid play WR
We have no impact playmakers on offense... the way it looks Smith has a bright future ahead of him and could emerge as our go-to-guy for years to come. I say keep em at WR.
its a stretch, like my idea of having him in the backfield, but I think WR will maximize his explosive playmaking ability. Barring injury, or something else, its gonna be exciting watching this kid develop.
He's a fantastic athlete, and I can see maybe something like this around the middle of his career, but I think it would be a horrible idea to try to teach a defensive position to a rookie wideout who was a quarterback before the draft.
