I am struggling to think of any teams identity, aside from really obvious ones like the steelers. I would say we are like the present niners, a good defensive team, focused on running the ball and working with the limitations we have behind centre.
good thing you stick to vague cliches like "no vision" and "not a team builder" without actually defining what those mean and how he has actually failed in those areas. otherwise I would be compelled to take your completely dumb fuck post seriously.
"Strength of schedule: 20th in difficulty (based on opponents' 2011 results: 126-130, .492 winning percentage). Taking it a step further, the Jets' road schedule is tied for the seventh easiest."
This is one of those threads we'll look back and laugh at. We got 99 problems but Rex ain't one of em.
Of course. My reasoning is because of the alarming turnovers we had last season. Our team turned the football over just as much as the Eagles and I believe Cardinals. Can't win games turning the football over (Raiders, Broncos) etc. If we can limit the TOs (and I think that's why Sparano is here) this team can win 10 games.
Let's go easy with the "defensive genius" stuff. His vaunted defense has crumbled time and time again with the game on the line the last three years. Ryan has to realize he is HEAD COACH and not the defensive coordinator of the NYJ. If he doesn't his days are numbered.
Rex is not a good HC, he is a good defensive guy. Maybe he can learn to be a good HC, but right now he is not at all. This year is as much a judge of Rex as Sanchez, at least it should be
Never had a losing season. 2 AFCCG in 3 years. You guys are right, fucking horrible head coach. We should have hired Pat Shurmur instead.
Rex is 2/3 in bringing this team to afccgs, and we barely missed the playoffs last year. I say we atleast play a game that counts with the starters. As disappointing as it may seem, pre season actually has a purpose, and i'm not so sure its Ws and Ls.
If the Jets are serious about continuity and Rex and the future of the Jets, Rex shouldn't be even thought of being fired or let go. If we try to redo our team every 4-5 years we aren't ever going to be consistent playoff contenders. We need to let these guys play out and establish something. It takes a while. If we switch, we may lose the value of some players by switching to a new scheme on either side of the ball. I used to be quick on the finger, because of the long wait we Jets fans or SB and bust, but the best way to build a team to win the SB is to build on a foundation. Rex's foundation is a strong defense that keeps us in games. We need to build off of that.
Say what you want about Rex but he's infinitely better than Mangina. Plus I don't know why Rex doesn't get enough credit for making the media headlines more about him than struggling players. I love that about him.
Rex's biggest shortcoming, and I think he would admit this, is that as a former defensive coordinator, he placed too much emphasis on just that side of the ball, something a head coach just cannot do. Hopefully, he's learned his lesson, and the team will be better for it.
some of you jet 'fans' are just absolutely ridiculous. this team was 8-8 last season. ill repeat that. 8=8. once more: 8-8. rex made the afc champ game his first 2 seasons as head coach. last season we were 8-8 and were still in playoff contention until the last game of the season. where the fuck did all of this come from? there is nothing wrong with the team, our defense, which was still damn good last year, has made some big improvements, and our offense is being taken in a new direction, one that is in line with rex's vision for the tema, rather than what we had the past 3 seasons, and he was still successful on top of that. everybody needs to shut the fuck up with this doubting rex crap. hes the best thing to happen to this team in a long fucking time.
