Ridiculous but doesn't really surprise me about Allen. That's what happens in Texas because the property taxes financing school districts keeps too much money concentrated in wealthy areas. There are districts in Texas, even in very middle class areas, that can't afford all the books they need for classes or basic repairs to the schools. There are districts in lower income areas, not very far from Allen, that went bankrupt a few years back because they couldn't afford the basics. Maybe those districts can focus on their job skills programs and build bridges to employment so their students can get jobs working for the Allen ISD as janitors and lunch staff.
It's Texas and they are crazy about football regardless of the level. NFL, College, or High School, football is king there.
In Texas? Ain't gonna happen. The only things important to the State Board of Education are that 1) Evolution is only a "Theory" (as Rick Perry famously said when he made a fool of himself running for President) and 2) Sex Ed should discuss abstinence only.
Out of control... I'm sure they could have cut that down a bit and given a few million to the school itself (outrageous idea I know)
