You guys still don't understand what is going to happen to Tebow if he gets the starting job here at some point. This isn't Denver. When the Jets lose games because he's a crappy QB he's going to wind up crucified by the media and the fan base. When he wins a game here and there everybody is going to bow down to the defense, because few people in NY are going to be stupid enough to think that that last minute drive that lead to a low-scoring win is all because Tim Tebow is here. Everybody is going to realize that the win actually happened because the defense played well all game and prevented the other team from running away with the game as happened multiple times last year when Tebow was screwing up the Broncos offense. Denver is a small place compared to NY. They were desperate for a playoff team after a long drought. They looked past all the warts on Tim Tebow and took the wins anyway, as improbable as they were and as ugly at times. They loved him for the win against the Steelers. And then they had the truth hit them smack in the face against the Patriots. Thankfully for the Denver fans John Elway found them a way out and Tebow left town a hero. In NYC people aren't going to cut Tebow any slack unless the Jets win a Super Bowl or he miraculously starts playing like a real NFL QB. All the rest of that stuff just isn't going to matter when he suddenly turns into a toad at midnight and the Jets get blown out.
Tebow is worse than Sanchez. To be honest I wish they would give McElroy a shot to see what he can do.
My guess would be land on IR but we'll see. I think I expect all 3 QB's to start at least one game this year at this point. It's just such a god-awful CF at this point.
Not to mention the fact that the AFCE makes last season's AFCW look like a Pop Warner league division.
You do realize that Hill is 6'4 and runs a 4.3, right? He's far from your typical,inexperienced rookie receiver.
It isn't a terrible comparison, but the main thing that saved Denver was the fact that Demarius Thomas developed into a really good weapon (and also a great complement for Tebow's skill set) in his second year. Thomas was pretty much a non-factor his rookie year. If Hill has a similar rookie season, it will be tough sledding for the Jets' offense unless another player really surprises.
Nice rant, but I never said I wanted Tebow to start over Sanchez. Doesn't change the fact that the Broncos situation going into last year fit that description to a "T". Here's the difference... Sanchez is a much better QB than Kyle Orton. Sanchez is under contract after this season. KO wasn't. I fully expect Sanchez to rise to the occasion. Even if the Jets have a bad season, if Sanchez is playing well, it would be idiotic to start Tebow instead. As far as I'm concerned, the best possible scenario for Tebow would be for Sanchez to lead the Jets to home-field playoff advantage while Tebow contributes and develops his skills. Then maybe he gets to start or play the majority of the last game to show how he's improved. I know that scenario's not going to happen, but it would be the best one for those of us who'd like to see Tebow get another shot somewhere.
You'd think Mark could cough up a few bucks as well. Between the two of them, we could manage a decent team this year.
His physical attributes are why he was taken in the 2nd round. They don't have a lot to do with whether he's going to be any good right away. In fact they may work against him because defenses will probably account for him more closely than they otherwise would. Put another way: he's 6'4" and runs a 4.3. Why wasn't he a 1st round pick given those measurables? The answer is that a lot of teams didn't want to spend a 1st round pick on a guy who probably wasn't going to help them all that much this year. He lasted until the 43 pick and might have fallen further if the Jets had not traded up for him. Why didn't he get snapped up as great value at the top of the 2nd round after the big contracts were no longer a factor? The answer is that a lot of teams didn't see him as a potential star in the NFL down the road either.
The best chance for Tim Tebow to get a full shot somewhere, aside from the Jets having a lunatic fit this season, is for him to change positions to FB (Mike Alstott variety) or H-back or TE. The less likely chance, since he hasn't proven he can do it yet after numerous attempts, is that he conquers his mechanical flaws and starts playing like an NFL QB. Go look up Bobby Douglass. That's where Tim Tebow is right now. It was a bad place to be for an organization without a clue in Chicago in 1972. It's no better for two organizations without a clue now.
The system he played in college makes it more likely he will need time to develop. The potential is definitely there over time, but not right out of the gate.
I know all about Bobby Douglass. Been saying for over a year the Tebow skeptics have plenty of evidence for their position. I disagree with their conclusions.

Yes the line is poorly coached. I was at mini-camp in June I stood by the OL workout and station, all Dave D the coach did was yell and berate players.D-Brick,Mangold and Slason all looked frustrated and angry by it. Coaching involves improving the skills of a player not verbally assaulting him for what hes doing wrong. Exactly,what were the NYJETS thinking when they signed this guy.
