1. revis didn't say anything about the lack of weapons, that's the author of the article manipulating his responses. i guarantee revis is more dissapointed in the play of our RT, who has now been benched. 2. plax was terrible last year between the 20s, couldn't get separation, and forced double teams on santonio who then couldn't get open. this was why our offense was terrible.
Plax as a #3 or #4 could work. I don't think he's the #2 by any stretch. If he's okay with that, bring him in.
This is a pretty damning statement. From the NFL.com article: It's not a great sign when the New York Jets' best player is not sure whether the front office did enough to help out its quarterback. "You've got to do what's best for the team, and I don't know if we've been wise in that department," Revis said Wednesday.
Schotte didnt know how to effectively use Plax. The play calling was terrible last season. There was no downfield passing game. Plax and Holmes were both aggravated by this and we all know what happened. Plax is a great cheap option and a red zone positive. This team needs to score TDs bottom line.
I love how its a story that he said he's unsure, but then whenever somebody says anything exuding confidence its spun negatively that they're lying. How bout giving the guy credit for telling it how it is...right now it cant be judged yet!
On another front - the Jets WR corps as it exists right now headed into preseason game 3: 1. Santonio Holmes is still hobbled by what may or may not be a hamstring. 2. Stephen Hill is still a raw rookie looking for some seasoning and hopefully leadership. 3. Jeremy Kerley is still hobbled by what may or may not be a hamstring. 4. Patrick Turner is still a tall, slow possession receiver without a real role in the spread which requires quickness at a minimum and also some speed to allow the receivers to get fast separation within 7 yards of the LOS. 5. Jordan White is still a rookie although not as raw as Hill. Could well be the Jets second best receiver by the end of the season - which would not be all that positive a development. 6. Chaz Schilens is injured, of course. 7. Eron Riley is a practice squad player. 8. Royce Pollard is probably a practice squad player
Holmes is ribs - was that just a mistake or are you saying they're playing games with what the injury is?
Yes he did. He utilized him perfectly in the RZ, the only place where was capable of being effective. Between the 20's Plax was like a statue. He couldn't get any separation. I loathe Shotty, but how is that his fault?
Why do you think theres a problem with Holme's hamstring? I thought it was his ribs and today when he was running all reports were he was running fine.
There was no down field passing game because no one could get open and Sanchez didn't have time. Plax is slow as all hell and got 0 separation and Holmes was being double teamed because of it.
Not that bad of a group on paper. The downside all a bunch of what ifs. Still need a vet WR who can step in as the #3-#4 instantly.
He grabbed his hamstring in mini-camp in June and stalked off the field. I'm just saying that ribs is a possibility but we already know he tweaked his hamstring earlier in the summer.
There was a point when every WR we have had a hamstring problem. Santonio said it was because they were overworked. This was also 2 months ago and Holmes for sure had a rib injury so I dont know why you think there is some conspiracy theory about his hamstring.
Holmes also has a bruised vagina and OWES the NYJETS fans from the bullshit nonsense he pulled here last year. Make us forgive and forget.
It's a terrible group on paper. In a year or two if Hill and White work out it'll look better but right now our #2 WR is a raw rookie who has limited experience in a pro set. Our #1, #3 and #6 are all injured and for #6 that's the story of his life. Our #4 and #5 are both strong college receivers who didn't really measure up to the needs of being a starting NFL WR, which is why they fell in the draft despite strong performances in college.
Sigh was a good read glad revis is putting the bame where it belongs. Since the theme for this thread is "sign temp fixes" Why not bring back plax sign chad put holmes in the slot and run a split backfield with greene/mcknight and a couple shots of mcknight/powell.
