The next time this matchup comes aroound, the media will go into a frenzy. We're talking the bes against the best, future hall of famer vs. future hall of famer, megatron vs. optimus prime...WHO ARE YOU BETTING ON???
Receivers in today's NFL have all the advantages. That being said it would be a great matchup. Out of 7 targets I give Johnson 3 catches for 50 yards. Advantage : Revis!
I love Revis but I'm pretty sure Megatron wins this at this point. We're talking about a 6'5 240lb WR who ran a 4.35 40 and had a 43 inch vertical jump with some of the best hands in the league. He can't be covered 1on1. Johnson might be the most dangerous weapon in the league. The recipe to complete a pass to him is literally just throw him a jump ball. He consistently beats double/triple teams for the ball like this.
www . youtube.com/watch?v= odEkIjovrBM Sorry, I don't care if I get called a homer, but this question has been asked and answered. And our pass rush wasn't harassing Stafford on this day either - 20/36, 240 and 2 TDs. We did get 2 sacks (Scott and BT) but this effort was all Revis, all day long. Revis vs. Johnson: 1 catch, 13 yds. Look at the first play of the game - he was doomed from the start. Again, I'll get called a homer, I realize you have to give credit where credit is due, but there's only one Revis. Megatron is elite, but Revis has run (and continues to run) the gauntlet of the top receivers in the game, and continues to win.
I'm going with Revis. That is the only game I've seen where Megatron was visibly frustrated. Revis game him fits. By the way instead of Revis Island a better nickname would be Optimus Prime or Revis Prime in this case
revis because hes won before. he beats people like andre johnson, fitzgerald, he's literally gone up against them all and won. idk if you guys agree with me or not, but i'd say brandon marshall gives revis the most trouble because hes the most physical. i know the stats might not support that, but idk
Last time they matched up Revis shut him down the same way he shuts down so many other WR. Don't see why the results are going to be dramatically different the next time they match up.
Revis wins. Why because he is the only CB that you would even have this discussion about. Doesn't matter what the receivers do in the end. You have this discussion because Revis is different then everybody else. 5 catches for 75 yards and a TD... good numbers for any receiver but the CBs name is never mentioned. 3 catches for 65 yards while covered by Revis? Revis wins just by being Revis. Not to sound cliche, but do the Jets win the game?!
I'd still count on Revis winning. He seems to always meet the competition head-on, it's just in his nature to step up when the pressure's on. That said, I think Johnson was clearly one of the toughest receivers Revis has ever defended. The only thing Darrelle ever struggles with is big, physical receivers... and Johnson is 6" taller and 40 lbs. heavier than him. But now the real question... we don't even play the Lions this season; why are we talking about this? :breakdance:
