I wouldn't put too kuch into this. Usually, when they say personal reason, it really is a family matter, like a funeral or something.

Every time I see a thread about Wayne Hunter, I have to keep remembering that WFH doesn't mean Work From Home.

He took the day off to mourn for his lost talent.

Sounds like captain turnstile is feeling the pressure from all the hate. I truly feel bad for the guy but he still needs to go.

    Quick.

Regardless of the reason, any opportunity for somebody else to emerge in that position is good.

Times like this are why I wish we still had Parcells around. Parcells wouldn't be coddling this baby - he'd be calling him out in the media for being the shitty player he is. Motivation through accountability, not by being their best friend. Rex Ryan has a lot to learn before he comes anywhere near the level of Parcells.

Wouldn't make an ounce of difference if Rex had WFH's entire family at gun point and said for every pressure you give up someone dies.

You don't think Hunter has any room to improve whatsoever?

He's 31, if he was going to get better it would have already happened. It's much more likely that he gets worse at this point in his career.

I think its more likely he gets worse than improves at 31.

What Hunter needs is more time in Sparano's man offense and a better QB calling out blitzes and reads at the line of scrimmage. You can do something about the former, but very little about the latter if you have Mark Sanchez taking snaps behind center.

How would a QB calling out blitzes and reads matter when WFH can't even handle the guy across from him, one on one, on a regular basis?

Sanchez has nothing to do with Hunter getting himself thrown around like a ragdoll, please stop, you sound silly.

The guy has shown a severe lack of lateral movement, strength and balance over the course of last 2 yrs. Time to relegate him to the bench. He's just not good enough and our QB sure as hell can't take the hits.

No. Hunter needs to sit on a bench and have no affect on an NFL game ever again.

Obviously you support Wayne Hunter more than you do Mark Sanchez... Are you a family member of his? Because Im not sure its possible to side with WFH on this one.

Having an elite QB would’ve stopped that sack for sure.

I'm not pro-Hunter by any means, just anti-Sanchez.

So you really don't think that if the Jets had gotten Manning that Hunter's performance WOULDN'T have improved even marginally?

The offense would improve that doesn't mean Hunter is improving. How would Manning make Hunter play better he could just make his job easier.

Dumb question. Sanchez is the QB who had 2.2 secs to throw with 3 of his starting WRs missing.

Hunter would eventually get Manning's neck broken and end his career the way he is playing.

Honestly, I think its terrible how this guy is getting ragged on. He certainly doesn't belong as a starting RT, but he seems like a hard worker who busts his ass, and the FO was stupid enough to leave him out there and now he is the joke of the team. Mercy already, Tannenbaum, Rex, whomever, spare this guy any more embarrassment. He seems like a good team player but he just doesn't have what it takes to be a starter at this point in his career. I feel bad for the guy.

Its a bit of both though. We all know that Hunter isn't getting the job done, but if you don't think Peyton Manning or any elite QB could handle the pressure better, your kidding yourself. Great QB's make something out of nothing, but I do think its unfair to ask Sanchez to do that in this stage of his career.
