Around the end of the 2011 season, there was an ex-Jet who said 2012 would be a rebuilding year. Maybe he was correct.

Unlike the last 3 years, the Jets didn't make any big trades to try and "win now". In fact, they didn't do anything to help an ailing offensive line that was obviously weak.

No team is going to come out and say that it's a rebuilding year and will always spin the current situation to sound as best as possible.

Maybe getting Tebow was a way to keep attention away from the severe weaknesses.

The 2012 draft seemed like is was geared for the long term and not towards filling in short term needs (like offensive line).

Also, maybe the Jets got Tebow to absorb some of the hits so Sanchez doesn't get too beat up this season.

Maybe the Jets think they can fill in the offensive line holes via free agency when they have more room under the cap.

Ex-Jets say a lot of things because they are tweaked about not being on the team anymore. Is this thread really about some useless comment from a guy that wishes he could still play football?

You don't use draft picks to fill in holes. You draft for the future. Should always be BPA unless you have a HUGE hole like WFH.

Not a rebuilding year. This team has enough talent to be very good. We just haven't gotten everybody healthy and together. The offensive play calling has been very vanilla (which does get very boring to watch), but the O will look better in the regular season. It can't really get much worse.

    Freakin a' with these threads.

No this isn't a rebuilding yr. This team won 8 games last year, not 4.

These threads need to stop. They're making this message board really unenjoyable.

Well, if 2012 turns out to be a rebuilding year, then it could also start the clock running on the Ryan/Tannenbaum Era as well as more and more questions about the product on the field come to light.

OK, so it's not a rebuilding year, but the Jets didn't pull out all the stops to get a championship calibur team either. The defense could be a top defense, but the offense looks weak. That unit may need to rebuild to some extent.

I dig coples and i'm not second guessing the draft this year but sure would have been nice to get decastro given all the line trouble we're having.

2013 will be the rebuilding year when the Jets bomb 2012 and get rid of everybody. Rex, Tanny, Sanchez... EVERYBODY

That is short term thinking. If Coples pans out he's going to be a major boon for this team for years to come.

Games are won and lost in the trenches and that applies on defense as much as it does offense. The fact that we have a pressing need immediately at RT doesn't make the Coples pick any less good (assuming success).

I don't think Tannenbaum is going to be given the luxury of a rebuilding year.

No 2013 will be the rebuilding year. Not much rebuilding going on around here so far.

Folks – we knew this was coming. We knew when Rex came in, we signed and gave Mark “top QB” money, we singed other expensive older FA’s …

We knew it was win NOW.

2009/2010 was our chance. That was what we sacrificed this season for.

Now it’s time to pay the piper.

PS – our sucky owner considers freak shows that sell tickets better investments then building a quality young team.

There will be no rebuilding until the Super Bowl has passed. The Jets will retool in any way possible and very likely mortgage the future to try to play in their own stadium.

If we are 2-8 after 10 games I am all for going with younger talent and seeing who can become part of our future. We need to get young talent in here to build around. Including all skill positions on offense.

I don't think you can determine that, just yet. If the preseason is any indication then it's a strong possibility. But re-building usually indicates there is some glimmer of hope and undeveloped talent.

No. The Jets brass won't admit this team needs a serious, serious overhaul until after this season plays out.

Did catch the graphic last night during the Colts/Steelers game where they showed all the starters that have left the Colts in the last year alone?

That's the definition of rebuilding, not just replacing 3 or 4 players.

Also," rebuilding" usually implies that a team has made moves to get better.
