Rex tripping over himself to hire Sparano is looking foolish. Todd Haley and Hue Jackson were on the open market.
it's not sparano, it's WFH!! he stunk under Schottenheimer and will continue to do so under sparano. at least give sparano a chance to do his job!!
agreed and when Tebow came in he sure found Hill immediately twice. Hill must have been getting open. Its was a sickening event to watch tonight!
Evan Silva @evansilva Tho slightly entertaining, preseason stats mean nothing. Colt McCoy, Mark Sanchez & Luke McCown combined for 9:1 TD-INT ratio last August.
Maybe because Hill was facing a lesser secondary at that point and Tebow didn't have Jason Pierre Pauls dick in his ass?
Hill took advantage of the Giants backups at cornerback. Corey Webster who is pretty good locked down Hill in their matchups so Hill just wasn't available.
Still waiting to see Hill's much talked about speed. I've read all off season about how he will fly down the sidelines, opening the field for Holmes during the regular season. 2 preseason games and the Jets wideouts are getting as much separation between the 20's as last year.
He's always needed route running work even back in college so that's why I think its too much to think Hill can step in and immediately be a playmaker in year 1. He's a project but he has tremendous upside if raised correctly....just the fans will have to be patient.
Sorry, but Sparano is the opposite of good innovative play-calling. Jets are trying to bring 1950 football back.
Completely agree. I don't think it's fair to expect too much from him this year. It sounds like he has great speed and is a serious run blocker. I love the potential. I just want to see some flashes of the game changing speed I've heard about.
Hey My Phins do suck. But seriously. After we beat the jets twice with the wild cat Rex called it a joke! He is right. It is a joke now that its out of the bag but seriously The whole league knew Sparano Sucks. Its' gonna be 3 and out kick a field goal.
If you're judging the play calling of preseason games, you don't know your ass from your elbow and you should go watch baseball instead. I'm not a fan of the Sparano hire but judging his play calling abilities based on 2 preseason games is beyond ignorant.
I can understand being concerned about the execution factor of this team, ok, makes sense. ..but Those of you who are freaking out about the play calls and the lack of throwing down field are kinda lost I think. The preseason remarks are legit in every single way, you can not base anything concrete on preseason games. Preseason is a glorified practice, nothing more. No team is going to throw their best stuff out there, it is about working on techniques and competing for a roster spot. Some of you need to go to bed and realize your completely over-reacting.
Preseason is about showing the fans that you've made progress from last years debacle ... Sitting at 8-5 and lose your last 3? Yeah I think we needed to see more than just a Vanilla hold back the offense because we don't want to show everything BS. QB's like Stafford ,Bradford etc weren't showing everything either but they went down the field and made some plays this weekend. Now we have to deal with Tebow is our Savior Fans and when he came in he threw like shit. Where do we go from here?
This wouldn't be a bad thing if they went at it 100%. Instead they're doing it half assed. Get some maulers on the line, a couple of quarterbacks who can run the option and a stable of halfbacks/fullbacks you can swap in and out and just run over people. Defenses in the leauge are getting smaller and faster trying to cover spread passing attacks. LB's and safeties who can run with TE's instead of being run stuffers are more valuable now and being developed more. The Packers ran a nickle as their base defense (almost 70% of their snaps on D was with 2lb and 5DBs). They're not alone. If the entire leauge is zigging, then zag. Other teams wont have the personal to counter both styles. They have to decide if they want to counter a power running attack with a dual threat QB or counter a spread passing attack with athletic TE's who can stretch the field and 3 WR sets. The Jets almost have the right idea but don't have the balls enough to run with it full force.
The only success Sparano had as HC of the Fins vs the Jets is the Wildcat games and the fluke game in NY that Ted Ginn returned 2 kickoffs for 2 TD's and Jason Taylor returned a fumble for a TD. The dolphins won the game without scoring a TD on offense. Sparano is horrible.
Im so not ready to jump off the ledge. Give me till week 3. Some of you are nuts. I cant even look at twitter anymore.
For all those saying the offense so far looks like Schotty's, isn't that more saying something about Schotty's offense that it looks like Sparano's vanilla non-gameplanned offenses for two preseason games?
