Im sure a lot of you guys can relate to this, but if you live out of state like me, how do you usually go about watching the Jets games that are not nationally televised? I've streamed them in the past, but the quality usually kind of sucks and I like watching individual players throughout the game, which is tough to do when the picture is choppy and the screen is small. Is there any better way to watch Jets games live if you dont live in NY? I would get DirecTV and sunday ticket but my apartment building doesnt allow dishes. Thanks in advance for any help.
Depends on where you live I guess. I'm deep in Dolphins territory but there is no shortage of Jets crowds at most local sports bars. I stream them once in a while if I don't feel like going out but yelling at the TV with a dozen + lunatic Jet fans is half the fun.
I live in Dolphins territory now too, and I'm not sure what the plan is. If I could have it my way I would get Sunday Ticket, but it is a bit expensive to get direct TV just for that. There is a local sports bar, and as long as they aren't playing the dolphins it's a good atmosphere, I just hate how I can't usually get the sound of the game there. At this particular bar, you can rent a VIP room with a few TV's so that is one possible solution, especially if I split the cost with friends, so hopefully there is something like that around you.
I'm in Canada but a lot of the TV providers in my area (Toronto) provide lots of time-shifted and local area stations (i.e. Fox Detroit, Fox New York, Fox LA, etc.) so I can usually find the Jets game on one of those. It's not always HD and sometimes can be a pain but last year I was able to catch every single game. Ideally I would get something like a Sunday Ticket and be able to watch all of the games live in HD but I'll save the cash for now and just deal with crappy def from time to time :breakdance:
I was in a huge huge jets fan club around here. Usually at least 100 fans a week sometimes over 200 for big games. Earl Christy from the SB team stops by every other week. I got to wear the sb ring. That was awesome and he's a hell of a guy super nice, stil crazy about the game and its awesome when an ex champion tells you that you know your football well lol. But moneys tight and no need in driving over 2 hours round trip and running up a bar tab every weekend when my dad has a 65 inch tv and the Sunday ticket at his place like 15 mins from me Plus I don't feel like leaving a puppy at home for 6 hrs and coming home buzzed having to get him exercise lolol. I will say the fan club is the shit though if you've got no commitments for the rest of the day and have money to blow.
I watch the play by play on NFL.com. Sometimes I can pick up the radio broadcast on a local station streaming online. My weekends have been very busy the past few years so I usually have about enough focus on the game I can keeping track of the plays on NFL.com. I had good luck last year living in Dallas since they broadcast some of the Jets v. NFC East games here but I doubt I will see many games on TV this year.
DirecTV did drop Sunday ticket to $199 but it still isn't good enough for me. I called and threatened to cancel like I do every year and got another $50 knocked off. So $30 in 5 payments for 17 weeks of HD football is a pretty good deal to me.
For those who use streaming sites, which ones are decent? (doesn't need to be in HD or anything like that, just any sites that will allow me to watch the games)
When im at School, despite it being in NY and having mostly Giants and Jets fans, it is Patriots territory so Patriots games always are shown first if the Jets play at the same time. Week 1 I will have to stream which really blows because it takes all the excitement out of the season starting =(.
Went to law school in MA (Unfortunately) but this site was pretty legit. I used to plug my laptop into the tv, most newer tvs have USB ports, and it wouldn't be too bad.
I'm in Jacksonville so I use DirectV with Sunday Ticket. One good think so far this year we getting more Jet coverage disguised as Tebow coverage.
I've got Rewind which helps if I can't get to a sports bar. Problem with the Sportsbar is Steelers fans chanting ...here we go steelers.... everytime they sniff the goal line.
I hit a bar called Relief Pitcher every Sunday....great food, hot bar girls, HD TV's every where. For late night games (MNF, etc) I sit outside in my hot tub and watch a TV I drag out onto the back deck. During the Miracle in the Meadowlands I woke up half the neighborhood!
I live in palm bay florida and its a cluster of phins, bucs, pats and jag fans here, your choice is to get the sunday ticket or live with the homers at your local bar.. i choose the sunday ticket
