He also mentions that Sanchez delivered a few perfect passes today, despite the picks. -He praises Brandon Moore and talks about his career and leadership. -He also talks about how the defense is finally getting turnovers and that he's surprised by how little there was prior. -He talked about Jordan White and how he's been making very good progress. -Says he thinks Wayne Hunter will play against Giants, but not Schillens.
Thanks for the update. While I have confidence in Rex as our long term coach, he continually uses the press to pump up his players in a pollyanna-ish manner. I sure hope Sanchez is better at reading defenses. In practice, he should be delivering perfect passes. I still hope that Schottie was the reason they looked horrible last year, though he looked like he hadn't grown at all in the first pre-season game. (before the eggs come, I get that holmes was out and it was a vanilla game plan --- the best offenses ALWAYS come out looking like gangbusters on a first drive of the pre-season, we looked dead)
I like hearing all the good pub that Sanchez is getting about his increased role as a leader on the team, and how his hard work in the weight room has him in the best shape yet, but it's true that Rex has love fests for his players during these press conferences. You can only hear him say what a "tremendous job" someone is doing only to look like crap in a game so many times. I love Rex, but unfortunately I have to take the "I'll believe it when I see it" route or at least take his praise with a grain of salt.
The Patriots only scored 7 points in their first pre season game while the Packers scored 14. Those are 2 of the best offenses in the league are they not? The only game that is remotely similar to the regular season is game 3. Teams are still getting the hang of playing together at that point.
Ten bucks says Tanny only offers Brandon Moore one year vet minimum next year despite Rex praise. Always seems to happen that way.
Depends on if we can get someone to take over the position and how he plays this season. If Ducasse progresses like he should he might be able to take over or there is always free agency. I'd be hesitant to give Moore more than 1 season after this year. Also I think we should go best Oline available guard or tackle depending in the 1st round and probably again in the 3rd or 4th.
Not sure if this deserves a new thread, so I'm just going to post it here: "Sanchez discusses his mindset on being a top 10 quarterback" http://www.nfl.com/videos/new-york-...top-10-quarterback?module=HP11_content_stream
Moore is 32 now. So next year at 33, there should be no problem offering him 2 years especially since football contracts tend to be meaningless. But if Moore is playing at a high level right now and Slauson is being asked to take a pay cut, I'd rather stick with Moore and concentrate on replacing Slauson with Ducasse or Griffin or whoever. Meh, its way early to have this convo.
Yeah, we have to see what Moore has left in the tank this year. I always kind of assumed this would be his last year, since Tanny is usually pretty good about getting rid of linesman right before they run out of juice; but you never know.
