http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8264148 (yay I've posted enough to actually post links /twirl) Lotsa truth in here. I hope the work on the wildcat today, isn't reactionary to the poor offensive showing... Can't believe the ESPN talking heads are trying to talk about Tebow starting however.
Couldn't watch the video, but if they are implying that Tebow start that is stupid. Sanchez will do just fine, but if he craps the bed or gets injured, it will be nice to have a competent backup. The media always drives a wedge between Tebow and the team. It is beyond ridiculous.
Someone needs to create a thread to enlighten fans how to ignore the media and what the media's goal is by creating controversy.... and then sticky it.
Basically said what a lot of fans have been saying. There is no play makers on offense. They said Holmes is not very good, Greene isnt a threat, hill "can't catch" and that the only offensive threat the jets have on offense is Tebows running. They said Tebow will start not because Tebow is better than Sanchez, but because of the lack of weapons around Sanchez.
I actually think they brought up some valid points... It is similar to how things worked out in Denver last season....The Broncos didn't have many good pieces surrounding Orton last year (Similar to Sanchez with the Jets). While Orton and Sanchez are better passers than Tebow, they require some semblance of talent around them in order to thrive..Neither are the type of QB that makes marginal players around them better (a la Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers). Its not necessarily a referendum on Sanchez or Orton, but if the pieces aren't there to make for a sound, conventional offense, then an offense geared toward Tebow would make more sense if it allows you to move the ball and win by bypassing the things you aren't good at. If B>A, then you should go with B, even if it is not the most widely accepted style...In the end, what matters is results, not style.
*sigh* Hill "can't catch" now because he dropped one ball in his first ever preseason game. The stupidity level (not you, the media/general public) seems to increase on a daily basis.
This would be ideal, but you can't just magically make this happen without some roster moves...And at this point that's probably not going to happen until 2013.
I'm still expecting the left side of the OL to get back to form with Slauson and Mangold healthy. I'm not going to panic after 2 bad drives in the first preseason game. Its the right side of the line that worries, Sparano will need to give them help with TE or RBs or things will be bad.
They didn't even imply it. They flat out said it. On first take, even Steven A, "Tebow gives the jets the best chance to win" /jawdrop
Hahaha the stupidity is reaching biblical proportions. Maybe ESPN will purchase a Tebow billboard to put on the turnpike right near Exit 16W.
What isn't being taken into account by the talking heads is it's not Tebow or Sanchez. It's Tebow AND Sanchez. Sanchez is the more complete QB. Tebow is the play maker, especially when the play breaks down. And regardless of what he presented last year, Sanchez hasn't acted at all like sulky, sucky Orton. Example? When asked about the WC today, Sanchez grinned and said, "so fun". He's embracing Tebow for what Tebow can bring.
Good point...still, Sanchez having a good attitude about it isn't going to help his teammates perform at a level high enough for Sanchez to thrive. So much of a QB's success hinges on how good the rest of the team is...If your line can't block and your recievers get open, then perhaps your best bet is to go with the guy who can create on his own (even if he isn't as good in the conventional sense). ...There's still time left in the preseason though, and its still early...I don't want to lose sight of the fact that they are all learning a new offense and it will take time for things to click. Watching the line on Friday was a little troubling though...That's less about learning a new scheme and more about just being overmatched at a position.
journalism on this Tebow thing is getting out of control. This is why people dont like the kid. Let them play and may the best man do the job for the team. Ill trust Ryan's word over the media.
I just listened to the podcast and Found it absurd. First we don't know how the offense is gonna be and second Tebow has actually made strides in his passing.
