Well, if he can get credited by some with making everybody around him better and willing the team to a win, then I guess he can get credit for some of the bad as well... But more to the point, they probably didn't want Tebow throwing in such an awkward spot on the field.
I'd point out that there's a big difference between "willing the team to win", and "willing Powell to pick up a 3rd and 5" Don't know if they didn't have faith in Tebow throwing there. Or if Sparano is just that cautious. Or if they just said "screw it, we'll punt", not thinking that it would possibly get blocked. Kind of impossible to say at this point. Anyways, I wasn't trying to argue that Tebow had some stellar, HoF type of performance, or even that he did particularly well. Just pointing out that compared to the other QBs and the Jets offense in general, his performance was on par with the others.
I thought Sanchez was the most impressive of the QBs, looked more authoritative than he has in the past, threw decisively and accurately and his only 2 incompletions were a drop and a pass where he was hit as he threw. Sure, he wasn't able to push the ball downfield, so that has to come now. Tebow's scrambles were nice, he showed he can be a valuable role player. He also showed he can't possibly be the starter.
I wonder were the sanchez tjat fouls extend plats went. He goes down immediately after the first sign Of contact, not even looking for open receivers. Dig you see dalton still delivering with pressure in his face.
Sanchez did a good job escaping pressure a couple of times, including a nice scramble. If we had the capacity to form one of those "pocket" things, I'd be able to say something slick, like "Sanchez moves well in the pocket" or "Sanchez escapes nicely when the pocket collapses"-- unfortunately, it's been at least a year since the man has seen a pocket, other than when he's on the bench, watching the other team keep our Defense out of theirs, of course.
He is what he is. A terrible passer who can make the rare big throw. But a vicious runner. Anyone who thought he would come in and magically develop Jay Cutler's arm was fooling themselves. We brought him to do short yardage. It's that simple. But if Sanchez sucks, we're screwed unless this defense is Top 3 in the league.
QFT Also fuck Tebow apologists. All the QB's sucked. Stop trying to make it look like your little man crush was some how not a part of said shitty play.
If that's the case then 12 NFL teams just breathed a sigh of relief about playing the Jets. Tebow does do some nice things, but if HE'S the best player on the team, then its going to be a long season for Jet fans. You only have to go back to your own game against Denver last season. Outside of ONE single drive, Tebow did NOTHING to threaten the Jet defense in that game. If it weren't for the Sanchez pick-6, there would have been no "heroic" ending. BTW- He was never coming to the Pats, simply because there was no earthly scenario where having Tebow at QB is better than having Brady in there. No Abby, Tebow is in a good place for him. A place where his skills can be used because there is a plethora of situations where putting him at QB is an upgrade. Personally I think he would be better off backing up in Carolina or Washington, where he'd be in a regular offense that relates more to his skills, and because these offenses use spread option principles, he'd be more likely to get playing time when the starter gets injured.
Not really reading anything in here, but im the same way with Tebow Absolutely HATED the trade when we made it. Then the guy slowly grew on me Ill concede that I felt that he would be a positive for this team before last night (that pick he threw REALLY bothers me), but im excited about Tebow Time this year.
I thought he would fumble a few but instead he took forever to get into his drop. That plus his exaggerated release are asking for trouble. I like him a lot when he has the ball in his hands as long as he isn't pretending to be a drop back QB.
As you say, this doesn't mean much at all -- but I would point out, this is one of the reasons why he wins. A running quarterback is kind of a pain in the ass on opponents, because all these little things add up. Not sacked, picking up a first down here and there. Even 34 yards rushing in two quarters makes a statistical difference. And trying to stop a running quarterback for one drive (with the game on the line) is a nightmare.
Yea or the 4th and 1. He wanted to go for them too. Reading lips on the sideline he goes over to Rex and says, "Lets go lets go" Rex, "Not this time Tim"
Exactly why he would've benefited from going there. There would be absolutely NO QB controversy there. Tebow would have time to work on his weaknesses, and Ben stands a good chance of missing at least one game per season, which means Tebow might have a chance at starting once or twice during the season.
Its nice to hear that people are warming up to Tebow being here. I was one of the very few posters who were here before the Tebots and supported Tebow being here. There is a lot he can do for us and one of the biggest things is how much other teams have to prepare for him. He will make our offense better this season as long as he is not the QB.
Dont get me wrong. I'm ALL for having Teblow on this team. As long as at no point he is our starting QB
