6 points on 2 field goals. The offense sucks. Wake up people this is going to be a long season unless theres drastic changes.
C'mon man. New offense was installed and this is the first preseason game. Also Holmes was out. The game was 10-6 without a blocked punt. And we played two quarters with a FB at QB. Its early.
Our starting offense only play 3 drives and it was the first 3 drives of the PRESEASON. Cant take much from that
When Rex says you will see a vanilla offense, did you think vanilla meant 70 yard bombs left and right and some WR reverse? I am not gonna go nuts over this game. Yeah we didn't really shine but I think the Jets stood with a few simple plays and that's that.
I didn't realize it was Week 11. Take it easy, these guys have had 2 weeks of camp so far. You expect them to come out looking like the '99 Rams? Drew Brees had 4 yards last night. Time for him to hang it up?
No denying that our O-Line looks like a pile of ship! Even without Holmes our offense should have other players ready to step in and do the job. Anybody crying that "oh we did'nt have Holmes" needs to get their heads examined. Since when did Santonio Holmes make a big difference? I hope we are not pinning all our offensive hopes on diva Holmes? Half of us don't even want him on the Jets. This offense is just where it ended last season - in the dog house - and Tannenbaum did very very little to improve it.
Concerns I now have We do need another WR. I know Holmes wasn't in there but man do we have a lack of playmakers. A professional route runner who can get open. Hill has speed and Schillens has size. We need a Cotcherry from 2010. We also need to have McKnight and Powell both contribute this year. The first pre-season game is meaningless in terms of game planning. We are going vanilla. We are testing guys out. But even basic running plays should be executed with precision. They were not. A rotation of backs is the only way to keep guys fresh and that will only work if Powell and McKnight are ready to step up. O-line looked bad. Not awful. But not good either. I actually keyed on Howard at RT since I know they like him and Hunter blows. He played ok. I didn't see him make a real mistake. And he is so big he can be a very strong run blocker. The problem I saw was DBrick did not play well, and we are in deep trouble if we don't find a blocking TE. How can we not have solved that already for a team that plans on running the ball as much as we do?! Cumberland is athletic but got dusted on a 3rd down pass protection play that Sanchez basically had no shot to complete. Keller got blown up on a run play that Greene got stuffed for a 2 yard loss. We better go get ourselves a Fasano-like TE who can pass and run block if we are going to run this system. What about Baker? Can he block? Finally I thought the D was barely ok. Scott still can't cover anyone out of the backfield. Davis better be ready. Coples looked like a talent though he got gassed. Get him in game shape already! Maybin was not a factor. Wilkerson looked good, as did Harris and Pace. Eric Smith can't cover anyone though he is a top ST guy so his injury weakens that phase of the game. I thought Richardson looked good as a pass rushing DE though. I expect better by week starting with next game. But we need some additional talent. Specifically a WR and a blocking TE.
I dont think I can get more annoyed by GMC’s posts... Please step away from the key board for a while please.
You are correct. 3-0. On the topic from the game thread, no you can't remove the INT and say he was 4-7 because that was a thrown pass that didn't hit its mark. An INT is an incomplete pass.
Easy there killer... it was one preseason game. If we have the same issues in 2 weeks when the starters play most of the game maybe there might be some issues. That being said it's only presason. Do you expect them to open the playbook?
