Look, maybe it's just me, but even in recent practice videos I still see Sanchez on staring down one part of the field or receiver.
I am not a fan of Mark Sanchez. However, I am excited with what I saw at the green and white scrimmage. The 7-8 second scramble for the TD pass was exceptional, and the speed that the ball is coming out was exciting. He still needs to work on his anticipation, and his accuracy, as he threw 3 horrible passes. IMO, he was trying to be to perfect with the passes, and they really were thrown in the right vacinity (away from defenders). I didn't see enough to really talk on his pocket presence, and the fact that we were 2 starting players down on the offensive line. For the record, I think Sanchez has the physical tools to be a starting caliber QB, but I need to see more of the mental game. I also need to see him mature.
That was a good read. I still have serious reservations about Sanchez, but I still think he can succeed. This is a vital season for him, that's for sure.
Defenses are adapting to the passing league by getting smaller LB's who are better in coverage. This is advantageous for us because we will be able to attack those smaller LB's w/ the running game. It is my prediction that in 3 years the league will balance itself out again.
A QB needs to look over the field, instantly recognize what he sees from the defense, and know what to do. Sanchez doesn't do that very well. Unless/until he can improve that aspect of his game, improving all the other stuff will only result in marginal improvement in his game.
Smaller LBs aren't going to help the Jets a lot because their OL is NOT dominant enough to make big enough holes to get their RBs much beyond the LOS, and their RBs are also NOT the kind who break tackles or make a lot of yards on their own. Smaller LBs help teams like Seattle where Lynch can not only break tackles, he can then turn on the after-burners.
Hey Catt,, Why dont you just change the Helmet to a Jets Helmet since you are here so much and have so much to say,, We have three pro-bowlers on the offensive line, So please get the facts straight. Hey you guys have MW now go to you site and write about him. DAMN I cant wait to open up against the Bills... Go Jets
Seriously? Smaller LBs would help any running offense. Like the Eagles last year we were running the ball on them real well but Vick shredded us. Eagles are real small up front. Bills have been pretty soft up front which is why they were easier to run on.
you know that is exactly the RB Greene is, running over people is about the only thing he can do. just worry about Stevie Johnson holding on to the ball and write about that on your forums.
According to just about every single one of your posts, the Jets are a bad team. Based on your analysis of the team, how many wins do you predict the Jets get this year?
Let me give you the answer in his stead. Jets are destined for 0-16. Bills, with the all-world pass rushing talent over the defense and offensive genius of Chan Gailey, are destined for 16-0 and SB win.
I acknowledge that improved footwork, overall, can help Sanchez. I don't know if it does much to help with his downfield reads, though, which seemed to be his biggest problem last year.
I'm in agreement with the general idea here. I think there's going to be a limited window of opportunity for a strong rushing attack and a good defense to make some waves against all the defenses that are migrating to nickel backers as their main set. That said, the NFL is going to be making changes to reduce high-impact collisions at the line of scrimmage and I'm not sure how that is going to factor in to things.
not only could they not get downfield, they didn't get any separation. the optimistic Jet fan in me has really high hopes Hill can catch some nice bombs to really open up the offense for the team, we really need him to come through. but again he is a rookie and will take time learning the position in the nfl
It's unclear if anybody could make good use of the reads in Schotty's system. Chad Pennington, who read defenses as well as anybody, threw 25 Int's in a 25 game span in the system vs 39 Int's in the other 64 games he played. I know you're not sold on Schotty's system as the problem but every QB he had on the Jets had problems with Int's. Every QB. No exceptions. That suggests that the system itself had problems in promoting Int's.
I think Hill will be a Braylon type(not as good as Braylon to start) as he will be a good blokcer and will catch the deep ball from time to time. Remember, Schilens can be a deep threat too so we go from zero deep threats a year ago to 2.
