http://boston.cbslocal.com/2012/08/...l-trophy-should-include-bill-belichicks-name/ Seems realistic with my Patriot-colored glasses on, but I'm interested in Jets fan's perspectives. If he wins 1 or two more, could we see it?
why would they do that? if they renamed it w/ co-names wouldn't the HC w/ the most SB wins go on there? I'd sooner call it the Tom Brady trophy than bill Beilichick as Brady is most responsible for their SB titles. Michael Irvin has said some dopey things but this one is by far the worst. It shouldn't be renamed, it's the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
I doubt it with Spygate and everything surrounding that there would be too much of an outcry. If not for that I guess it could happen but I haven't seen that much in sports
Never ever gonna happen. Just Mike Irvin kissing up in a Boston interview. By that logic it should be the Lombardi, Shula, Knoll, Walsh, Belichick trophy, and you'd have to consider taking Lombardi off for only winning two or it would be the Lombardi, Shula, Landry, Knoll, Walsh, Parcells, Reeves, Belichick trophy. (And I might have missed someone) Just a bunch of silliness.
Lombardi was a character of a somewhat angry philosopher build who transcended football and made coaching a more glamorous profession. Belicheck is a great coach with the personality of sandpaper who looks like the Emperor from Star Wars and inherited one of the best QBs of all time.
I think we are all dumber for reading this and even considering it as something logical. Honestly, suggesting this is a disgrace to the game. There never will be another VL...
Agreed with your premise but it'd probably be more accurate to say Belistink drafted Brady, or was at least involved in the selection, rather than "inherited".
After watching Michael Irvin give some erratic, sweaty, red-eyed sermons behind the desk on gamedays for the past couple of seasons, I am convinced that he is either back on the snow or he has found a better substitute. I'm not sure why his opinion would ever matter on anything.
