Desitin is an extremely helpful ointment for butt chaffing...you should pick up a tube.

Also, based on your sign up date it seems like your user name is some subliminal bitterness over Maybin...we stole your "bust" so you are trying to remind of us ours...except ours was an actual bust. LOL

Tim Graham was once an actual sports journalist. I can't believe he wrote that.

Pretty much my take. I'd be beyond livid if Maybin half assed it on my team initially, didn't play up to the top pick the team made him to be and then worst of all just began to find his own and begin to be a useful player in the league for a rival team no less.

I can see where the bitterness comes from. That being said, I do think they need to get over it.....I get it by putting this sometime during last season. But its 2012 now. Save the piece for maybe 2-3 days before Bills/Jets or something when it means something....not the beginning of August.

Okay after now actually reading the article.....wow that was an awful article. Way to overblow a quote. As someone said last page, that was about as vanilla of an article as one can get. There was nothing to take out of that...that was good.

    +1

It's sour grapes by Buffalo fans (writer).

When you look at the entire picture, Maybin is still a disappointment for a 1st Rd pick. I'm glad he's a situational player on our team, but still doesn't have the value of a 1st Rd pick.

Maybin fit's our system as a parttime player.

The Jets got a steal picking him up for a meager salary.

Contrary to what the writer suggests, Maybin was cut to erase a mistake made by a previous coach and GM. He played just as hard as he does now, the only difference is that the Jets are under no particular pressure to make him a starter. Most Bills fans I know realize this without reservation and I live and work around dozens of them. I live in Rochester NY so trust me, I hear about it.

    This QFT-
The article simply states a bunch of facts, what is the big deal? Sounds like the defenders are the ones with sour grapes. Tim quotes some facts, and simply said the entire saga is head scratching...which it is.

    1. He was a one year wonder at Penn State, stupid the Bills took him so high (previous regime)
    2. He held out forever right away
    3. He under performed in Buffalo
    4. He got cut by the bills
    5. He got cut by the jets
    6. NOT ONE other team picked him up
    7. Jets grabbed him like game 4 I think
    8. He got a sack like every 2.25 games, not bad but not earth shattering
    9. Now he is the most "exciting" player in Jets camp, I assume moreso than Tebow to Jets fans...

I will not say it is impossible he turned a corner so to speak, his confidence was pretty beaten down here in Buffalo and the coaching staff tried like hell to get him to make plays. However, I warn you...he always looked decent in training camp and we would always say...."this year Maybin is gonna do something." So forgive Bills fans if we want to see if last year was an abberation or a real corner turner for Maybin.

This seems pretty accurate. A combination of Aldon Smith's success and the fact that the Jets don't have any quality pass rushers makes Maybin a bit on the overrated side.

Still, considering the fact that the Jets really don't have many guys who can get to the QB, its nice for us to have him around.

Simply put, anyone who covered Maybin in Buffalo or was a fan of the Bills when Maybin was here is annoyed by the guy. Maybin is very annoying to a lot of people, I had many arguments with Bills fans over Maybin.

He talks a big game, if he struggles in NY you guys will start to have the same arguments. I liked him in the draft, always compared him to Jason Taylor. I hope he can do well in NY City. I know he likes being in the big market more than Buffalo.

I hated the pick, Maybin should have been a third or at best a second round pick. The expectations were way too high. Taylor was a beast and although he played at Akron not the (once mighty) Penn state, he at least started three seasons before coming and out and was a third round pick, which made sense. Clearly he was first round talent, but without the proper competition and time played, he would have been a big reach in the first round.

Maybin will probably do ok in Rex's defense. Rex is very good at putting defensive players in the best spot for them and good at situational defense, which is why he gets the mokst out of his talent each year. Maybin situationally rushing against the right tackle will see some success. especially if the right tackle is not that mobile. He has no real power move, but if he can blow by the tackle, his backfield speed will get him to the QB. He may get 6-8 sacks for the Jets as a norm. I cannot see him becoming an every down Jason Taylor type end or OLB.

I love it. "Maybin sucks! Never should have drafted him cause he's so worthlessly undersized....probably only get around 8 sacks a year as a 3rd down specialist or whatever. Plus he's a jerk." Poor bills fans.

This classifies as a hit piece? Graham's loving the web hits, but I don't think you can really argue with anything he wrote. Maybin was ass in Buffalo, cut by the Jets, only to resurface and have some success a quarter of the way into the season. He's no vet, dude rode the pine, he has no sage advice. Just rush the passer and stfu.

This qualifies as a hit piece because the title is "Aaron Maybin pretends he has veteran perspective" based on a comment 3 year vetetan Maybin made that essentially said "I'm happy!!!!"
No one is suggesting there isn't bits if truth, but the article's premise is very untrue. Where is he giving anything even close to "sage advice"? You've got to twist his words around pretty far to come to that conclusion. Further, what if he did decide to answer a reporter's question with some advice, is it not natural for someone who has learned something invaluable to share it with others? The only person with an attitude giving "sage advice" is the writer. This is clear as water unless you are a biased, crybaby bills fan. He wrote this so bills fans could feel better about themselves, and that's the only fact that really matters.
So let's not pretend the writer is sharing some great truth with this hit piece.

I actually saw this this morning, I thought it might make it on here haha.

It really is a pathetic "article." I am very suprised it made it to print actually. It sounds like something of a rant that you would see an average joe Bills fan make - not an article in the News from a "journalist".

There's reason for sour grapes in Buffalo of course for Maybin's poor performance on the field, but its not like he was a douche or anything. Its not his fault he was selected where he was, people should be more upset with the decision makers and not him, which I think most rational Bills fans are. Didn't he lose a son or something? That had to take a toll. He was always a hard worker in Buffalo too, even through all the hate he was getting from the fans.

On a side note. Who the F**k does Eric f'ing Wood think he is that he yells out to Maybin to give some of his money back??? That's classless to say in any work place situation let alone in the NFL.... from Eric Wood LOL. If anyone should give some money back to the organization its him, has he even lasted a full NFL season yet??

Eric Wood was one of the best centers before his injury. Stop being ignorant, he's done more on the field than Maybin ever has. Nothing you can do about injuries, stop embarrassing the fanbase with remarks like that. Maybin has one NFL start, and you're questioning Wood?

How many of you had an issue with the NYTimes puff piece this morning? Dick riding is okay, the truth not so much.

You ride more dick than Kim Kardashian. Its funny the truth on it is in between. Maybin is not ass, Maybin is not a pro bowler. What he is is a great pickup for the Jets as someone who can rush the pasher and pick up sacks. Maybe he can get better this season and be able to play all 3 downs. Some things in camp are camp fodder and some things in camp are true. We will see which one it is.
