I was watching some ol' school football on youtube and I had a revealation!

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE FULLBACK?!! Sam Gash, Zonka, Knottingham, Jim Taylor, Jim Brown damn all this passing and crap!

Run the ball and hit people! What happened to the game? Also, back then you could slap the quarterback! We can't slap quarterbacks or kick people when they're getting up no more? I wish I was alive in the 60s and 70s.

But back to the Jets, do you think we will have a good run game this year and hurt mother fuckers?!

Our run game is gonna be better than last year.

But its not gonna be REAL Rex Ryan football.

This team really has to rebuild into a true power running game.

Id love people to turn on the Jets and think its the 1960s

All last season I was hoping to see Connor more involved in the run game but they never seemed to use him consistently which was a little baffling. They also seemed to be effective using VD as a run-blocking TE. I'm all for more smash-mouth, power running this season. Let's hope Fist-Pump can make it happen...

Remember when you used to be able to knife other players on the field. Those were the real days.

This is the kind of the running we need to get back to. Being able to knock down one or two defenders and just being more physical than the opposing defense. Last year I think we had one run like this and it felt like we took a big step back in physicality in the run game.

    Soooo....we need to trade Cromartie?

But Yeah, I agree with you -- I'm hoping we can see Greene do more of that, I'm mixed between skepticism and excite to see him be the number 1 back this season.

I think Greene was banged up last year more than what we've been told. He should have a better year if healthy.

If used, Conner and Tebow could change the face of our run game.

This is a huge put up or shut up year for a TON of guys. Obviously there's immense pressure on Sanchez to move in the right direction, Greene's contract is up, don't care what anyone says about the two championship games - Rex is on the hot seat, no Schotty to blame a mediocre offense on.

I was growing confident that this could be a good year and things may have changed. I'm not on board with that so much anymore. I guess if nothing else, there are so many "if's" on this team this season.

I sure hope if anything, we restore the run, and also make it to the playoffs at least, and I'm not even talking wildcard!

    Richie Anderson was awesome fullback.

Play action pass, misdirection, fB screeen. Pennington was artist with his fakes. I heard Namath was better. Chrebet with the killer block.

That 2002 run was pure joy while it lasted.
Anderson was a good fullback. Was nothing better in those days than seeing Mawae leading the charge down field on a well executed play action screen pass.

I feel we have some bruisers and grinders who can tote the rock this year.
One of them needs to develop into a legit receiving threat tho, a la Curtis, Anderson, LT...
If we can run the ball well this year, play action will also become a staple, so someone better step up catching out the back field.

unless things totally implode there is no way rex is on the hot seat.his worst year was 8-8 and you think he should be run out?it takes time for a coach to get a roster the way he wants it and firing after 4 years of pretty successful foot ball would be a sin.he should have 2 more years if mark fails to see if he just missed on a qb.g.m.' usually get 2 coaches coaches usually get 2 qb's.

I wanna see hard hits delivered by the Jets and I want to see the RBs run people over like it's their job (which it just so happens it is). I love watching people deliver hard hits.

    Kind of like Mo Lewis.
