I fucking love this movie...I'm more of a drama guy and this delivers.

Avengers was also just a great film because of how difficult it is get all of those superheroes in one film.

But TDKR does feel like a 3-part film, comparable to LOTR

I have heard a lot of people say they like Batman Returns better than Batman. I don't get that. Batman Returns is good, but not as good as Batman. I guess as a kid I was a big Joker fan. I didn't even like Batman Returns til I got older. Too dark of a movie.

As for Begins over Rises, I still think it is the best pure Batman movie to date. Things get complex in TDK and TDKR and feature many more characters. I wrote earlier in the thread that you can argue for any of Nolan's 3 at #1 and I couldn't disagree with you. All 3 are great. Also, speaking of Lord of the Rings, I have always liked The Fellowship of the Ring the most of the three. Maybe I just like how stories begin. I don't know. haha.

There is in mine. The script would be very different if Heath did not die.

that doesn't fit the Joker's character. The Scarecrow was part of the League of Shadows plan to destroy Gotham, and as such makes sense within the plot of this movie.

The Joker was not interested in criminal association; he was interested in his own agenda.

Joker would have been the lead villain...Everything would have changed, except maybe catwoman and JGL's character.

Joker probably recruits Bane and Batman would need help to save Gotham

+100000000. Original speculation centered around the third nolan batman film starting with the Joker's trial and not 8 years into the future.

That's actually why I like it the best (probably because it seems to fit Burton's style which made Returns' direction better IMO).

That's a good perspective. I need to re-watch Begins and TDKR in the same day to objectively decide which I film actually prefer; it may be closer than I thought.

Right....good points. I guess I was just thinking about how much better that part would have been with The Joker handing out sentences. Although I do think that The Joker would have loved the organized chaos that was created in TDKR.

Just got back from a 4th viewing. It really is a masterpiece of a trilogy.

As for the Joker, maybe TDKR would have not had Catwoman, but instead have Joker helping Batman take down Bane. I could see that happening. Then of course at the end he would turn on Batman as he can never be trusted. I would have liked that. Sad thing is, we will never know.

Just saw the movie. Please stop going to this thread if you haven't seen it yet haha but SPOILER ALERT!

-I can't believe I didn't see that JGL was being brought in as Robin. I knew he had some important role in this movie but it never came to me which was surprising. I think it's cool that they ended it with him and the nod to Robin but I still wouldn't want them to touch the franchise. Anyone else feel that way?

-I thought it would have been much cooler to me if the ending did one of two things differently: 1) Batman actually died (I think sometimes sad endings are warranted) or 2) they showed Alfred at the end but didn't pan to Bruce and instead left the camera on Albert and had him looking shocked before transitioning into a smile and nod. End of movie. That would have been so cool.

-Tom Hardy is awesome. Very happy with the selection of Bane.

-I think my favorite scene was probably the prison scene. Only on the third time does Bruce get out and he only has the drive to do it when he truly knows that he's dead if he fails. Fucking brilliant and that chant was eerie and cool.

-It's really interesting seeing that fanboy comic strip of how the Joker could have been included. I actually said to my girlfriend afterwards that they could have given him a mention almost exactly as that strip did. I was thinking that instead of actually showing his face, when Bane lets out the criminals, you see this guy with the stringy hair stand up (with him facing away from the camera) and the audience knows it is him.

Personally I liked the ending a lot. It was probably my fav part of the movie. Batman didn't have to die in reality because he's dead as far as everyone knows, so it's still sad (i.e. the statue to him, the tombstone for Bruce Wayne, etc.) and it achieves everything that needs to be done. The Robin thing was great, I thought, but I agree that I kind of hope they don't start a string of Robin movies now. Just to have it in there is good enough.

I do agree that some kind of nod to the Joker would have been good...but the movie did take place 8 years later, so it's understandable that people wouldn't still be talking about him openly...but a reference would have been nice.

My only complaint about the Robin reveal is that they didn't say his real name was Richard (or Dick) Grayson. I guess that is too inside for the audience.

That scene might not sound too great like that though.

I can quote all of Bane's lines in the plane scene.

    I'm a loser
