Mohammad Wilkerson! This guy will be a beast! Look for a JPP tye season from this guy! He never had a training camp last year due to the lockout so look for big things, its why i always laugh when Warren "i cant pay my child support but have more shoes then an NBA draft pick" Sapp says the Jets have no pass rushers
I expect all the young guys on the DL to get better (Wilk, Dixon, Maybin, Ellis) and although I know I shouldn't I expect a nice rookie season from Coples. It'd be great to have a passrush without blitzing for once.
Has there been any mention of Ellis' development over the past few days? I'm very curious about how he's progressing and what he looks like in action.
I'm also really excited to see what Ricky Sapp brings to the table. He rarely gets mentioned due to his past injuries, but people forget he was an absolute stud pass rusher in college. Between a healthy Sapp, Coples, Wilk and Maybin we're looking at a potentially devastating pass rush.
Im thinking this season will be the year slowly make the transition from oldies like Pace and Thomas to guys like Maybin, Sapp, and McIntyre
Also we have a D roster that is set to be a great unit in the next few years with guys like Wilkerson, Coples, Ellis, Maybin, Sapp, Davis, McIntyre, Bush and Allen. Could be A GREAT unit in 3+ years and i mean GREAT
Im curious as to why people think Sapp will be healthy this year? I really don't know much about him beyond the injuries so why this year will he stay on the field.
He looked pretty impressive in the preseason last year, was really looking foward to seeing what he can do. Still am.
Actually I think 4 men front may work. Why sudden change of heart? I completely forgot about this one guy named DeVito. He can play strongside DE - that frees up Wilkerson. Of course DeVito as 3T has epic fail written all over it but at strongside DE, he can get decent leverage and seal the edge (he's basically playing 3-4 DE in 4-3 scheme like he always has.) He may not be an effective pass rusher but you can put Maybin on his side to help that out. With that out of sight, I'd guess Wilkerson can play in 3T role and thrive. (And have Coples rushing from the weakside.)
I remember Rex saying after the draft that Coples and DeVito would be the guys that can deamand a double team and open up holes for Wilkerson and others to get to the QB
Saw this from Cimini regarding Ellis: Rich Cimini @RichCimini Tebow went 2-for-3 in second period. Kenrick Ellis having nice practice. Blew up a couple of runs. #Jets I also read somewhere that he specifically had 2 TFL in team drills and overall had a solid day. I would absolutely love it if he could develop into a beasty NT for us. If he really does possess that rare combination of size and quickness he could be a presence for us at some point. I am hopeful he will take a step forward in year 2. Regarding Wilkerson, the more I think about the season he had last year, the more excited I get. Hopefully Coples' presence will only elevate the impact Wilk can have, and vice-versa.
lol nobodys paying attention to Wilk ? Id say him and Maybin have gotten more hype as most improved players from last year than everyone else on the team combined
