Cimini acting like a little bitch!? I think he crossed a line here, this is sooo unprofessional! Also I think Holmes is right in a way, we all now news reporters create fals drama when there isn't any actual drama to report... it's what makes them sell more copies. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/je...age?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Holmes whines about media coverage July, 18, 2012 By Rich Cimini | ESPNNewYork.com Now I know how Wayne Hunter felt in the huddle that fateful day in Miami: I've got Santonio Holmes coming after me. Well, not me alone, but rather the entire New York media. Holmes, in an interview this week on an NFL.com podcast, blamed the media for causing the Jets' locker-room unrest last season. The controversial wide receiver also said the media should be positive and support the team. Obviously, he has no clue how this works. Earth to Planet Tone: We're not cheerleaders, we report the news. "If you guys want to be -- and this is for the New York media -- if you guys want to be a part of our team and want to feel so important, be there to support us, not to try to break us down,” Holmes said. “Because (there’s) not one day that we all step in that locker room and we try to break each other down, that we talk bad about the way that person played, because it affects the team the way one person plays if they don’t play to perfection. “So, if the New York media wants to be a part of our team and wants to continue writing about us, write positive things. Stay away from the negative, because it doesn’t do anything good for our team that you want to report all the negative things that happen and that’s all you want to talk to us players about. We live for one thing, and that’s to play football, and not to entertain you people in the media.” You may recall that Holmes didn't speak to the media at last month's minicamp, refusing several requests. Technically, he violated the league's media policy. A league spokesman said at the time that Holmes wouldn't be fined, but would be reminded of his obligations. Something tells me this won't be the last brush fire with Holmes this season.
Please write nice things, what a little bitch Holmes is being. Man up! You are making a lot of money to play a game. Rex, now you understand why we got him for a 4th?
My favorite line: "We're not cheerleaders, we report the news." :rofl2: Cimini reports negative stories that are spun off the "news". Obviously the media is never going to call themselves out and say wait a second we were going after the negative all the time. If what Tone did was whining then Cimini is whining. Cimini trying to one up Isola who had a good run being negative nancy to the team he covers. Cimini wants to claim his crown back.
Holmes makes a good point. It seems like the media only reports negative things with the Jets and they do it for hits. It's bullshit and I'm sure Jets players are getting fed up with it. Why would they want to talk to the media if the media is just going to blow what they say out of proportion.
Holmes' sentiment was legit I believe the media did blow all this shit out of proportion, that to me is pretty obvious it's their job. Holmes, as usual, does a poor job of explaining his stance. Fuck em, expecting a nice year from Tone.
The New York media Play nice and be team player's. Never happen! If tone thinks that what he is suggesting is an actual possibility , then he's not only a Diva he is also as dumb as a brick. The Media in general hate the New York Jets because they have been burned a million timesby them. We remain because we have made a blood pack to be loyal undying Jets fans Till death do us part!
They both need each other, no players no media, no media no over hype players. I do agree with holmes abt the reporting being negative. An 8-8 record seemed like it was 1-15 last year. Finally ultimately it comes to us going to read Cimini's articles, bcuz if we don't he won't have a job. Unfortunately todays society and news loves negative and half baked glamorous stories.
Cimini is a toolbox; players must maintain their professionalism towards the media, but if journalists are overtly personal in their criticisms, then you'll reap what you sow.
He's 100% and I don't know how more people aren't agreeing with him in this thread. The New York media is absolutely disgraceful and way too reactionary. They make some of the idiot trolls on here look like genius football analyst. They blow every personnel move, every soundbite, etc and try to make a story out of it and people eat it up. Most media markets are much more player friendly than the NY market. All the NY media does is alienate players and turn fanbases against their own teams. Hell, they have people thinking Jeremy Lin was the next damn Michael Jordan. It's asinine. Shit we act like we have it so bad already, but shit, talk to a Cleveland Browns.
So Holmes and Cimini are both acting like whiny kids now while Manish Mehta, who is the one who really got this whole dynamic rolling with his highly negative reporting at the end of last season just sits back and watches.
Now that's interesting - a story where everybody is wrong. Holmes is a moron if he thinks the media should only report the happy-clappy stuff and ignore things like arguments between players. Cimini is a moron if he thinks what he does is report the news.
Cimini did nothing wrong, the job of the media is not to be cheerleaders for the team. this isn't Columbus, ohio. Holmes was wrong for his silly rant on the media.
Earth to Cimini. They days of just reporting the news by the NY media have long gone away. They take non stories and make a big deal out of nothing, beating the same shit to death to sell rag papers and tv time. Not to mention their penchant for passing judgment on players, owners, coaches, draft choices, play strategy, etc etc For once I applaud Holmes. Just like they constantly try to create controversy with Tebow because that sells, oops, sorry I guess that is considered reporting the news. Most NY media winnies qare nothing but bottom feeders.
Holmes probably took it over the top by saying they should be super supportive of them, since the media has no horse in the race really and are there to report the news, but I do agree with his sentiment that the media focuses way too much on the negative compared to the positive. A bit more information and a bit less of the making stuff up would be nice.
