why? I would always view Tomlinson as a Charger the same way that everyone would view Favre as a Packer or Montana as a niner.

I like LT as a Jet but I dont see this as any sort of slight.

You're kidding right? A slap in the face? He played with us for two years and was nothing near what he was when he played for the Chargers. He was the best RB for so many years in S.D, it was obvious he was going to retire with San Diego and that he will enter Canton as a Charger.

I'm just curious if he is going to change the dates on his tattoos since he is going to sign a deal with SD.

I don't see any reason whatsoever to be insulted by this. Did you expect Art Monk, Ronnie Lott, or Steve Atwater to be remembered wearing green and white too?

I just thought he was trying to tout all this JETS Spirit when he was hear, the charger clearly had no use nor felt he had any value/gas left in the tank... how does that make a player feel? just a thought, not a rant....

ROFL some of you are idiots.

LT's 2 years past his prime is supposed to be more important than the rest of his career?

some people should just keep their mouth shut.

Today's sports world? Did Namath retire as a Ram or Unitas as a Charger? It's been this way for a long long time.

You're right, but with the salary cap, there is far more changing of teams than ever before. It is rare for a player to stay with one team his entire career.

I thought the "we need to draft a QB in the first round next year with the draft pick we get for trading Revis" thread was the most ludicrous I had seen here at TGG

    but this one tops it.

Brett Favre didn't retire as a Jet -- another slap in the face

or Art Monk, Steve Atwater, Ty Law and Ronnie Lott

    HOW DARE THEM

As long as Matt Mulligan retires as a Jet then I'm OK with this.

Dumb to ever consider him anything but a Charger...even with the fallout from his departure from there. I'm sure he's not doing it to smooth things over with the front office out there. It's more of a tribute to him and his career as a Charger. Nice thing to do for Charger fans to feel good about him one more time as well.

Favre retired a Viking. Most similar scenario I can think of.

Irrelevant anyway since players aren't allocated to a single team when they go in to the Hall of Fame.
