So I'm putting together my man cave and I want to have a section honoring each decade's best player. To do this I will have a framed autographed picture from each player. I have decided that representing the 1960's will be Don Maynard, representing 1970's will be Joe Namath (I recognize that Joe's best years were in the 60's but he also had some good years in the 70's, this way I can have both Namath and Maynard), representing 1980's will be Joe Klecko, 2000's will be a combo of Curtis Martin and my personal all time favorite Kevin Mawae.

My question is who is the best Jet of the 1990s? I was debating between Mo Lewis, Keyshawn Johnson, Wayne Chrebet, Vinny Testaverde or another player. What do you guys think?

I'm going with Lewis, he was a mainstay through multiple tenures, a pro bowler as well as a leader on the defense. T most non Jet fans he'd probably be overlooked as a great player because he never was the very best at his position but he was among them year in and year out.

Wayne Chrebet all the way. Kevin Mawae no way in hell.

Well, I think it's just plain impossible to have a true Jets shrine without Wayne Chrebet. Was he the best Jet of the decade? No, he wasn't even the best player on the team outside of perhaps the horrendous 1996 season.

Key was a better receiver, Vinny was the key to our run in 1998 (and subsequent failure of the 1999 season), Mo was probably the best Jet of the decade from a talent/longevity standpoint.

  5. Of the list, Mo Lewis. Pro bowl level player through multiple eras. Could do it all.

I believe Aaron Glenn should be on this list as well. Was a true #1 corner through multiple eras & had some dominating moments.

This is tough. Its mostly toughest because we had three regimes in the 90s so there was a lot of turnover.

I can't pick a QB because there were simply too many of them, but sure Testeverde had the best year of any Jets QBs in the 90s. Curtis Martin only played two years for the Jets in the 90s so its hard to pick him. Keyshawn had 4 great years but Chrebet and Rob Moore had 5 good years a piece, so its hard to pick there. The player won't come on offense IMO.

On defense, you had Marvin Jones, Mo Lewis, Aaron Glenn and even Victor Green. Aaron Glenn or Mo Lewis probably take it, but my personal favorite was... Victor Green. Green was the only guy that tackled anyone in 95 and 96 as far as I can remember, which was nice.

Edit: Probably has to be Mo Lewis since he played 9 of 10 years in the decade and had good production and only one season with injury.

Watch the Jet-Jag AFCE game and you will settle on Keyshawn Johnson, and rightfully so.

Oh, and please promptly burn your Mawae photo. Thank you.

Not a lot to argue with there. Very hard to pick one player...not to change your theme but why not have 3-4 players per decade? If I had to choose 1 player though it would be Mo Lewis

Mo Lewis should be banned from the conversation seeing as he is single-handily responsible for Tom Brady.

It's an unpopular choice because he's such a dick, but I have to go with Keyshawn Johnson.

It just depends on your criteria, if you looking for a face of the franchise and fan favorite you have to go with Chrebet. If your looking for the best overall player you go with Key or Mo.

I'll go with Aaron Glenn although Vinny had the best year of any Jet in the 90's.

I'm going with Mo Lewis.....though I'd give props to anybody who put up Aaron Glenn or Victor Green.

I would like to be able to nominate Lorenzo Neal, FB. I'm just imagining how tough C. Mart would have been (and how many more yards he would have) if Neal had been blocking for him all those years. But we traded him for a 5th round pick in '98. We used it to pick Blake Spence, TE Oregon. Remember his amazing contributions? Me either.

It's not even close, Mo Lewis far and away was the best. key or Vinny would be up there if they played more seasons but there's no doubt it's Mo. Chrebet will win b/c he is the most popular but Mo was a much better player.

agree - maximizing talent, consistency, and sturdiness. lewis gets my vote.

imagine what he could have done in a RR defense......

I think people forget how good Mo was b/c of how he slowed down late in his career.

You could go Martin for the 90's, Mawae for the 00's, unless you want them both in the 00's.

Out of the guys you put in poll though, i'd def go Mo Lewis.
    Chrebet also a decent option.
No way in hell should you go with that duechebag Keyshawn. That would taint the integrity of the shrine lol
