It's almost too obvious the problems of last season: 1) Schottenheimer (fired. thank God) 2) Right side of line (not addressed) 3) Shell shock (Sanchez got lit the fuck up in a lot of games last year, say what you want the kid took a lot of big hits, it messed with his head) I still think he is a tough kid I saw him take big hits in big games and he rose to the occasion. I am not off the bandwagon yet and I am a believer that this will be a strong year for him. 4) quitters 5) media 6) leaders IMO Tebow helps Sanchez focus on football. Tebow helps Sanchez become more of a leader and take control of the huddle. we run the football a lot more, and a lot more effectively under Sparano (I don't think Schotty has a mind for running the football (at all) and using the running game to build the passing game). We must run the football inside and outside and mix in the play-action. Our defense is going to be stout regardless. Protect the football on offense, wear teams down. That's the strategy I hope we take. I think it's the strategy Rex is good at. It's definitely the strategy the Ravens and 49ers have made work.
That throw had to be called. McKnight Stopped as if anticipating to block. Realistically, on a normal play, when the CB covering McKnight flips his hips inside, McKnight should have been off to the races, looking for the ball to be placed over the right shoulder.... Had that happened, Sanchez would have had a clear lane to step forward, and buy a second or two, possibly room to run to the stick.
In a word, No. In 2 words, Fuck no. Schottenheimer sucked. Rex was saddled with his willy loman ass as the part of the deal to get him here. He was further hamstrung by the fact that if he openly talks shit about him it just makes it harder to get rid of him. Schottenheimer is a prime example of nepotism and incompetence.
How is this guy not banned yet? Super Troll City. This thread is obviously the dumbest question of all time as you can't take a step back when you are at the bottom, but I am sure it is just a joke.
Schottenheimer was never fired-- He decided to leave on his own accord. Both Mike T and Rex thought Brian S did a great job--Don't know how this is considered a troll thread since this statement I just made can be documented. These are the FACTS -We won more playoff games with Brian Schottenheimer running our offense than any OC in team history. -6 years on the Job -Made playoffs 3 times -Only 1 losing season -4 ROAD playoff wins with a rookie QB who started from day 1 Brian Schottenheimer is a good coach
This message is hidden because DepressedJet is on your ignore list. enough for the Mangini/Schottenheimer one man fan club
Hahahahahaaha. Because what Tanny and even Rex says in the media is accurate? Remember what Rex was saying of Gholston? Remember what Tanny was saying expecting Schotty to be the OC here. Tanny and Rex praise everyone in the media
Schotty, you can't redeem yourself like this. Do some work in St. Louis. I'll reconsider if your offense does produce something better than horseshit.
Schotty or not, this jets team doesn't have enough talent at the QB, RB, WR or TE positions to have a SB season. I do however expect them to do better than last year.
They have enough talent at the skill positions, just not an overabundance of it and the people they have all have questions attached also. Where the Jets are lacking at this point to make a Super Bowl run is on the offensive line. 2 Superstars is wonderful but they call it a line for a reason: a hole or two and you could have Godzilla and Superman on the line and it wouldn't make much difference. The Jets chances for a Super Bowl run lie in the trenches. If the offensive line and the defensive front are good the Jets are in it and if they're mediocre they're not.
This is my view also. More specifically: QB - if you can provide adequate protection, you all have seen what he could do for you even late in game WR/TE - Addition of Braylon would be icing on the cake, but this is not a bad squad as it is already. RB - Greene can still churn out 1000 yard season - that's plenty good. OL - WFH. I rest my case. (Slauson barely makes the cut only because WFH is so fucking bad.) -------------------------------- DL - Looks mighty fine for now ILB - Looks set OLB - Looks like a total overhaul soon. SS/FS - When the likes of Yeremiah Bell is impressing out of the entire safety squad, you know this group stinks to the high heavens. CB - Couldn't be better --------------------------------- So, in short, I would think offense has less hole than the defense. (Yet it is always the defense that performs better than the offense.) Unless the OL starts playing consistent football, this team is not sniffing anything close to the playoff, let alone SB.
QUOTE Zach "Schotty, you can't redeem yourself like this. Do some work in St. Louis. I'll reconsider if your offense does produce something better than horseshit. " Don't think it's Shotty... sound more like Mangini to me. Same kinda reluctant whining you can hear from him on ESPN. Reluctant because he's forced to speak, whining because he doesn't want to be there.
Dear Ted: We all know how shaky Sanchez is and how much he sucks, but on this one I can guarantee you, he beat you. Watch the coverage. You see ten guys only at LoS - meaning there is one FS high up top. After that, it's 3-men rush, and 4 DBs on 1 receivers (in man-to-man coverage) and three in zone coverage. You can easily recognize this by how they lined up: four DBs lined up right at LoS, across the receivers and three zone defenders were some 4-5 yards off the LoS. As the play progressed, the zone DB made a gang-tackle on Keller in the play. (His number is some 4x) Now, what if Sanchez threw the ball to McKnight? First thing first, as a QB, you never throw deep when the defender is staying deeper than your receiver. (That's called stupidity at its best.) And it was a good thing McKnight didn't go deep either. He would have been stranded in no-man's land had he done so. On top of that, if Sanchez threw the ball to McKnight, that DB (4x) will undercut McKnight and pick it off. In short, you are asking why Sanchez didn't throw into a double coverage, a bracket coverage notwithstanding. There is a reason why the DB at the sideline can backtrack way back like he did - he did so knowing there is a help underneath. Watch how the zone defenders are watching Sanchez from the start of the play. That play had no shot of success whatsoever. So, as a QB, your score on that play stands at: 1 Att, 0 Comp, 1 INT.
