Here are some great videos of Wayne, the most popular Jet ever. Wayne Honored By the Jets 2007 The Flashlight game Wayne interview
chrebet is the reason im a jet - i remember nflfilms.com used to let you view highlight reels - they had some good stuff with chrebet
While we're saluting our past, here's a must watch for all noobs..... NFL highlites Monday Night Miracle part 1 & 2
Chrebet was amazing. I don't think anybody ever did more with less. 5'8.5" (yeah that's what he played at, 5'10" my ass) and what was probably a 4.65 40 (yeah the answer has been 4.53 but Chrebet was never timed at the combine because he was not invited to the combine and every other metric about the man has been exaggerated in his favor.) 580 receptions by a guy who couldn't even get into training camp his first day as a walk-on because the seasoned security guards there who had seen it all could not believe he was a football player. That's a great football player.
the single only accomplishment of the Kotite ERROR hopefully, he leads a long and healthy headaches-free life in his retirement
Met him at the stadium cafe after the giants jets preseason game right before 9/11. I was wearing a Chrebet jersey but didn't want to interrupt his dinner so I waited till he walked outside. He was eating with Michael Strahan and a few girls. I met him outside and talked for a minute and asked him to sign my jersey, he said no problem and asked Strahan for a sharpie with no luck. I ran inside but it took about 10 minutes to find someone with a pen (it was really crowded and I had to eventually flag down the bar tender). I walked back outside assuming he had taken off only to find him leaning on the back of a running SUV waiting for me. This solidified him as my favorite jet of all time. Jersey is framed with my ticket stub.
Chrebet was absolute money on 3rd down. The Flashlight game highlight was great to see again. Man, I miss those players. Even Bryan Cox, who embraced Keyshawn after the game. Curtis took a big hit after releasing that wounded duck. I didn't recall that part of it. I still have a "Green Lantern" T Shirt in the house somewhere. Crap. Friggin' Parcells should have stayed another year or two...
Great story....Truely exemplifies the man who I used to pretend I was any time I lined up in the yard....I always loved how he had such great acceleration where it would look like he was jogging and than all of a sudden "BOOM" he hit his break and would find the seam with the defender left on his heels! Much love for #80
I didn't see Chrebet play that much because I didn't watch the games all that much, but when I did I loved Chrebet. One of my all time favorites.
Good player but most over rated Jet of all times! Now if your under 35 i can see you saying this but if your older you know chrebet couldnt hold TOOOOOOONS jock!!!
I been thinking about Chrebet lately with all the concussion stuff in the news. Man, he had a ton of concussions -- basically what ended his career. One of my fave Jets -- first jersey I ever bought. I hope he's okay, brain wise, down the line
Martin takes a whack in the flashlight game. I remember Victor Green forced a big fumble late in that game to help set us up. I remember at home against the ravens Chrebet drilled Ray Lewis on a crack back. Ray was so pissed off and lost his composure attacking Chrebet. Chrebet defended himself ripping at Lewis' face mask and never gave an inch. Chrebet was always the biggest man on the field.
