All this talk about the kid being lazy. Well if you have something this is your place to put it up. Coples is so lazy...he changed his name to Elmer because his ass is glued to anything he sits on.
Couples is so lazy that he was glad the Jets selected him at 16 so he didn't have to stay up for the entire draft.
Coples is so lazy... that he took plays off his senior year in college so he wouldn't get injured... because all his coaches got fired and he saw his other teammates get a lot of money in the draft in previous years... so he was like f*ck it just wait to go pro... then they said you probably should do a little something in you senior season so he kinda turned it on at the end...
Coples is so lazy he didn't declare for the draft after his junior year despite having nothing but a burning ship to go back to. He's so lazy that he didn't have the energy to run out on Butch Davis, who had lost a lot of talent due to suspensions and probe-related ineligibility. He's so lazy that he moved to defensive end despite being a top 10 talent at defensive tackle, too much energy required to resist the coaches. He's so lazy that when they asked him to move back to defensive tackle, which would have solidified his draft stock a lot, he resisted the move because he wanted to be a great defensive end after starting the project. He's so lazy that when he went to the 2010 draft parties that added gasoline to the fire burning at Chapel Hill he was one of the few guys who kept all his receipts, proving that he had paid for everything (except maybe a few coconut-crusted shrimp - and don't get me started on that.) As a result of his lazyness preventing him from throwing away the receipts he was one of the few investigated who came out squeaky clean. I'm so glad he was lazy in those ways. They're why he's a Jet now and not playing DT somewhere else. My guess is by mid-season a lot of other people on TGG are going to be glad he was lazy in those ways also.
So far I like all the moves. I watched the NYJ press conference last night and it was Mike Westhoff who had Demario Davis at the top of his list. So we got versatility there, he will play right away on special teams and develop into a LB. Coples is someone Rex fell in love with and despite the lazy accusations. I watched some of Coples' tape and it didn't seem like laziness to me, but more the defense was playing out of position. Coples' job was to get after the QB, but the offenses were primarily running AWAY from Coples either with bootlegs in his opposite direction or RB's running on the other side. Coples' LB support was out of position and so in a lot of plays there wasn't much Coples could do. There might not be a lazy issue here. Hill was worth a 5th round pick. He could have easily gone in the 1st round. Tebow is worth a 4th round pick. He's the kind of backup QB player you know won't LOSE games for us if Sanchez gets injured and with our defense playing great has a good shot at winning the game. Offseason has again been stellar under Rex and Tanny IMO.
