I'm pretty sure you're down in Chapel Hill and maybe still associated with UNC. What's the inside skinny on our new pet monster?
I think Rex is a person who gets that lazy bone out of you and commands you play up to your potential. which I think Coples will do
I really hate picking a guy in the first round who has the word lazy so easily associated with them. Also many have questioned his desire to play football.
I'm a very hard worker and I wanted to play pro-football since I was a little kid more than you can imagine. Unfortunately I have no talent for the game.
That doesn't work either, but it doesn't mean the concerns about this player's alleged laziness are invalid.
I follow the FB team but not nearly as close as the basketball team but I am happy w/ Coples. So much went on around that program the last 2 years and they lost so much talent b/c of it and he didn't have much help yet still had success. I think we're going to have a great DL w/ Coples and Mo at DE, pouha(and eventually Ellis) inside. I'm happy he fell to us.
Gruden made the point last night that what some might interpret as lazy could actually be this guy being smoothe, he looks like he does not put effort but he could be that good. I never looked at the tapes to determine whether he shut it down but what about giving credit to the offensive line for maybe double teaming him or chip blocking to prevent him from making plays. It can't all be Coples taking plays off or being lazy. I love the pick.
I'm as scared as anyone about this kid's motor but to be fair #1 UNC was in turmoil #2 The did move him around a lot including to DT at times. #3 He does have a ton of talent. He wouldnt have been my pick but I don't think it was an automatic terrible pick.
The smooth part reminds me of Robby Cano if you watch baseball. Compare him to Dustin Pedroia and it looks like Cano puts in no effort, but in reality everything comes so easy to him and hes "smooth". Junc or some other UNC fan could probably expand more, but I remember UNC's program being in shambles last year, so that could result in Coples slight downturn of production
2 years ago the heels had legit national Championship talent but 20 guys were suspended for most of the season, some of that lingered into 2011 and Butch Davis got fired. so much has happened w/ that program the last 2 years i am sure it had an effect on Coples. I may be biased but I think we are getting a really good player and I love the pick.
Glad to hear that. I like the pick too. I liked Shaun Ellis a lot and Coples looks like he may be on the upside of Ellis.
