He sure has played a lot for a guy who is "always hurt." Over his 8 year career he's missed a whopping 13 games, and averages 22 touches per game. That's pretty much the definition of a reliable, work-horse running back. He's definitely getting older but there's plenty of reason to think he can still be an effective back in this league.

As for the Jets, he would be a perfect fit. His style fits well with what Sporano wants to do, and he's versatile enough to be used in just about any package. This allows the coaching staff to pick and choose the spots they want to use Greene in, which would allow him to be most effective.

But there's no chance they him get him, they can't fit his seven million dollar salary under their cap for the next two years, and I doubt they want to invest long-term in a guy with that much tread on his tires.

Wouldn't mind giving up no more than a 4th, splitting carries could make him a beast. But see what kind of contract he wants.

    Sign this beast.

For a sixth and seventh round pick. And Wayne Hunter.

This only happens is the Rams somehow maneuver their way to get Trent Richardson, i wouldnt mind this as a draft day deal. Thomas Jones came in here when he was about 30, he would need to restructure his contract though to get that extension, but id be all for it.

He is due to make 7 mil this year and another 7 next..probably why he is on the block. You can find RBs anywhere now that everybody plays with at least 2.

In that case no thanks to get him.

Much rather have a change of pace back. Ground and pound with Greene, and have a nice speed back.

7m for often injured player is too risky.

5th round pick tops for him

he'd be a one year rental so they can avoid taking a RB in this draft and fill other needs: WR, FS, OT, G etc... then they take a RB next year's draft to replace him

this is a type of move a team makes that wants to win now

with ground and pound you need 2 proven RBs

For whatever it's worth, Jeff Fisher just said it's not true.

Watch them pick Richardson although he won't drop to six.

    I hate this argument.

Out of the 16 leading rushers in the NFL last year, only 2 weren't drafted in the first 65 picks of their respected draft -- Arian Foster and Michael Turner.

Plus, the whole argument about the NFL isn't about running the ball anymore and you don't need a stud RB is only partially true. You don't need a stud RB when you have an elite QB.

Steven Jackson would immediately be the best rusher on the NYJ. A 5th rounder should be a no-brainer.

I mean, I didn't say that Jackson is worth more than a 4th or 5th, I was saying St. Louis is going to want more for the guy.

    I agree with Bradway's #5 post and Vandy's #4 post.

However, Jackson is due 7 million this year...I don't know if the Jets can work that out.

If I'm Tanny, I'm trying to push Hunter and a 5th for Jackson.

Yeah I heard Jeff Fisher on the Heard this morning shooting the rumor down. They're not likely to be in position to pick up Richardson with him not falling past 5 so this thread is basically pointless now.
The only RB we should have a thread about trying to trade for is Jonathan Stewart imo
