ESPN is reporting the Packers are releasing him today due to the injury he got last year. They say it could be career threatening, but others don't think so. If he's healthy, and could come at a somewhat cheap price, this is a guy we have to have.

I'm not sure but it sounds like the same surgery Manning had that made him miss a year. Coincidentally he had it around the same time if my real quick fact checks are correct.

Translation: If doctors clear him to play I'd ABSOLUTELY want the Jets to take a chance on him.

I'd want the Jets to get him too, but he is the best player on the packers defense. They wouldn't release him for "not feeling confident" in him.

    His career is likely over.

He's retiring. Packers wouldn't have released him if he could play.

Packers, according to PFT, are uncomfortable letting him take the field again. Sounds like he done to me.

Regardless, by the end of the weekend, the Jets starters will be either Landy and Barron or Landry and Jimmy, with a safety drafted in the middle rounds in the mix.

Ted Thompson: In the end, we were not comfortable clearing him to play again

It's up to doctors not a GM to say if he can play again. He's not retired until he himself says so.
