That Ross and Ireland said "No!" to Tebow proves that the Fins do NOT, indeed, have the worst FO in football. It seems that the 2nd best team in Jersey has absconded with the title! :breakdance:

PS If the Fins resist wasting their #1 pick on Tannehill (which I think Ireland can certainly do), they will have had a decent off-season although I'm sure all the media mavens will diss them for it.

To be fair Junc, they are technically the best team in Canada also

    I'll see myself out.

Eli used to get ripped by the media when he was in NY the first couple years, I am sure he loves not being talked about.

Eli's ego can't take being second fiddle to anyone. Super Bowl rings or not, he couldn't fathom being in such a horrible place as San Diego, so he and his father manipulated the draft to get him to the Giants. Now, that's not good enough for him, not having the spotlight on him 24/7. Wahhhhhhhh!!!! Poor baby!

Yea I would say we have had a decent offseason. It really hurts losing Marshall, but I dont blame them for trading him. He also single handidly cost us games last year, but he is an elite talent so it's never a good thing.

I actually want Tannehill. Part of that is the fact that we haven't had a good quarterback in so long, and at some point you just have to take the chance. If he's their guy, they have to get him. It's like the Jets with Sanchez. He might turn out to be a bust, but the jets FO saw a player they wanted and thought would be great, and they did what they had to do to get him. I can respect them for that.

Another reason I want Tannehill is our coaching staff. They've proven they can develop quarterbacks, and Tannehill has all of the tools and then some. The guy is extremely talented, he just hasn't put it all together yet. I will actually be pretty bummed out if they don't take him. Again, it's just time we did something about the position. If we can trade down and still get him, great, but either way, just get us our quarterback.

I agree w/ yoyr line of thinking but what QBs did your staff develop? you don't think Mike McCarthy is the one who developed Aaron Rodgers?

I believe our head coach, Joe Philbin, had quite a bit to do with developing Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn. I know he wasn't the quarterback coach but an offensive coordinator still has alot of influence. I will admit I could be wrong about that, it's just been what I have read, and I dont know how long Philbin has been with the Packers.

Either way, having coaches that can develop Tannehill is a ways down my list on reasons I want to take him. It just gives me more confidence that he can succeed if we do. Again, I don't know how involved Philbin was in developing Rodgers and Flynn so maybe you can answer that for me. I'm not sure how long Philbin was even with the Packers for.

What of his first 3 years with the team? Were those non impact years? Oh his stats were not as good. He wasn't developing or anything. Chad P was a capable QB who did not need an option player but Brad seemed to work well with him - when Kellen wasn't being sent to start cause the fans demanded it.

Having Smith/Tebow is better than not having Smith/Tebow. While I am happy, rather than ecstatic, with my current starting QB, There are 20+ other teams in the NFL that would be very pleased to have someone as capable as BSmith or Tebow behind Sanchez as the starting QB.

And yes your statement is fact that the Jets offense is not accomplishing what other teams are accomplishing by building up the pieces around the QB, you can only say that 7, 8, or maybe 9 other teams have the ability to build pieces up around the QB. Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Schaub, Vick, Eli, Romo ? Romo is a stretch to pick over Sanchez.

There aren't many other QBs in the league (4 years or less especially - Newton?) that are starting Qbs that I would pick over Mark. Adding Tebow upgrades the b/u QB position and adds another dimension to the Jets O like it had in 09 and 10. The only mistake is the media market this team is in and the frenzied circus that the media creates.

There are concerns - a lot. How will the OLine play? Will they bounce back? What could the front office had done to help the online - draft a center, LT, RG, RT? Draft a whole new oline? Wayne played like shit last year - but so did the whole online. Wayne might bounce back nicely. Maybe he won't. Maybe Brick goes through a funk as well. Why did the FO let Bray walk last year? Why don't they pick him up this year? Why haven't we traded Keller? Why haven't we added a piece to help compliment Keller.

There's a ridiculous amount of concern on the Offensive side of the ball. But if everything bad happens, then the Jets will go 4-12, whether or not Tebow/Smith/ hybrid player is here. Whether or not Hunter is replaced, whether or not Sanchez has the appropriate personnel around him.
We don't know. Its all speculation.

It seems you knocked down my level of knowledge, which happens to based on opinion is like stating your opinions are more factual than mine.

We both know this is a stalemate argument that can be debated for the next 6 months, and could swing either way and neither of us will have hard evidence until the season concludes.

Can we wait until Matt flynn does something? I'm sure he had a hand in Rodgers but I'd credit Mike McCarthy a liitle more.

As soon as Matt Cassel is released from the gallows of New England's depth chart, he'll be a perennial pro bowler for sure.

I may disagree with you here, but at least this post of yours is reasonable. My objection was to your previous post, which belittled the concerns many well meaning and thoughtful Jet fans have about the moves, and non-moves, this off season, particularly the Tebow trade.

I don't have the time right now to answer this post in detail, but you largely responded by leaving behind the SMH and responding on substance. Good for you. I appreciate it.

I guess it just depends whether you want a QB who plays his best football in the playoffs or one who plays his worst football in the playoffs.

Deciding which quarterback is to be envied comes down to what you prioritize: Super Bowl Rings? Supermodels? or Jesus' Cell Phone Number?

Looking at it from outside a Jets fan perspective they are a joke. They really are. I can't hardly listen to a sports talk show without hearing someone busting on them. It looks as though Woody took a look at how Snyder was running his team back several years and said to himsef "Self, Danny Boy was on to something here. I wanna do it this way". Problem is he didn't keep it to himself. He also told Mike Tannenbaum. :deadskins:

Looking at it from a Jets fan perspective, it makes me want to cry into my milk.
