Wasn't he rumored to be going to the Rams earlier this year?

Anyhow, most of his draft work is already done. His work occurs in the year before it is used. To the extent that he could take information with him... meh. He is a scout essentially. If he knows a great 5th round pick, its still a hit or miss 5th round pick. And the same for his opinion on a first rounder.

At the end of the day, he probably wouldn't leave until after the draft even he he was shopping his resume.

It's not like the raiders have any draft picks anyways... we're fine

Lets bring in a draft executive from Green Bay, Pittsburgh or Baltimore

What a nice idea. Just get somebody who understands how an organization that wants to compete at a high level every year conducts business.

I'd be really happy with Marty Lyons getting a seat somewhere in player personnel. He's got a good head on his shoulders and he understands the pressure of being #2 in NY.

You and me both Don.. This one is shaping up as one of the most crucial drafts of the Tannenbaum era. If Tanny takes the easy way out and trades away the majority of the picks just to get a few spot up when everyone is trying to trade down, we can all start giving Tannenbaum the official fisheye as we know Woody wouldn't.

This really makes me sad....Clinkscales was the only white scout we had left. I'll bet after he leaves the majority of our draft picks will be black.

/sarcasm for those retards we have welcomed to TGG lately

These executives come and go, very rarely are any of them irreplaceable. Good organizations persevere.

What's everyone getting all up in arms about? There is zero benefit to anyone if he left now. Jets and Raiders have always had a good business relationship, too. As someone said earlier, it's a transient business, out with the old, in with the new, etc. Good luck, Joey. They weren't all bad.

Baltimore's recent draft record (last 5 years) is not really any better than ours - get me the draft executives for Baltimore from 10 years ago and we can talk!

Plus its easy to win the draft when you have an elite QB like GB and Pitt.

Get me a draft exec from a team without a good QB that is constantly lauded as winning the draft....which will probably take some time.

Over the last 5 years, Ravens' draft > Jets' draft

If it weren't for Revis and Harris in 07 it wouldn't even be close.

07- Ben Grubbs, Marshal Yanda, Antwan Barnes (never produced for them but 20 career sacks from a 4th round pick is value), Jared Gaither (supplemental) (vs Revis, Harris, Stuckey, UDFA DeVito)
08- Joe Flacco, Ray Rice (vs Keller, Lowery, and UDFA Woodhead).
09- Michael Oher, Paul Kruger (5.5 sacks in '11), Ladarius Webb, UDFA Dannell Ellerbe (vs Sanchez, Greene, Slauson)
10- No first rounder - Terrence Cody, Ed Dickson, Dennis Pitta, David Reed (return man) (vs Wilson, McKnight, Conner)
11- Jimmy Smith (no one knows if he'll be good or suck), Torrey Smith, Pernell McPhee (6 sacks in '11), Tyrod Taylor (could turn into a solid backup) (vs Wilkerson, Kerley)

This is a list of players drafted by the Ravens and Jets that made an impact in the league. Because '10 and '11 are so recent I'm not going to speculate on whether any player from those drafts are a bust or not.

EDIT: Don't forget that no player since Revis (i.e. no player drafted in the last 4 years) has made a pro bowl except for Joe McKnight maybe?

Not quite sure where this idea came from. Al Davis screwed the Jets every chance he got. He had it in for NYJ since the NFL-AFL merger.

It has been reported a number of times that Clinkscale, Bradway and the scouting department were very much against taking Gholston. If you believe the reports Gholston was a gift from Mangini.

Joey Clinkscales sounds like the name of a mob hitman. He should be hanging out with Freddie Fingers and Mikey the Mouth.

Rice was clearly a great pick , other than that there is no-one that knocks your socks off - the Ravens get a lot of credit for their drafting but most of their "great drafts" were 6+ years ago and of late they have not been amazing, .

Regardless, they've drafted better than the Jets over the last 5 yrs.

Clinkscales has been the head of college scouting since 08. Our draft record since then has dropped off considerably. Gholston, Wilson, Ducasse.....people should be celebrating this clown leaving.
