Probably not surprising to anyone, but news as we await the draft.

    Jake Steinberg ‏ @Steiny31
Former #Jets QB Mark Brunell has retired from football.

During the 90's he led some of the most lethal offenses in the league. What a great run the Jags had from 96-99.

Is anyone else thinking of wiping a booger on this thread?

    Happy trails, Brunell!

It's wild to me thow these guys can make so much money in the league and then come out in bankruptcy at retirement. I hope he was able to restructure all that dept and can retire comfortably. Seemed like a good guy!

I enjoyed watching him play when I lived in Jax. He was a hell of a good QB in his prime. As a Jet, I always felt a little better knowing he was behind Sanchez. I don't have that feeling anymore. I don't mind Tebow as a change of pace/wildcat guy, or even as a TE or slot receiver. As a backup QB, though, he is lacking.

I just touched base with free agent QB Mark Brunell, who told me that he doesn't plan on retiring yet. #nyj

No reason to hate the guy for wanting to stay in the game or for being old. Any criticism of Brunell should really be directed at the front office for thinking he was a sufficient back up and QB coach for Sanchez.

I don't get the hate for Brunell by some. It wasn't a mystery he's old.He didn't pull a Danny Almonte.Don't be mad at him, be mad at Tanny if anything.

    ahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    hahahahahahahahahahah

    hahahahaha

HA! This mother fucker played us like a fiddle. He was retired when he was playing with the Redskins 04-07. Brunell will always be the garbage man in my book.

Its hard to make money when buying real estate just before a real estate collapse.

This wasn't exactly a guy who blew all his money on Aston Martons or cocaine. He invested like most of us do, and his (first) financial adviser got greedy and sham'd him.

I don't think there's a need to rip him. He was doing what he thought was a smart thing and got "schiested" out of his money.

It's not like he is retiring. The game is retiring him since no one wants him. If any team came to him with a contract for vet minimum he would sign instantly.
