If I'm being honest I don't hold out a lot of hope but I hope he makes an impression.

I think with a full offseason with the team he can be a bit better this season. If he gets 10 sacks in a mostly third down roll that will be great for the team. Maybin isn't the solution to our pass rushing problems he's just a compliment to it. If we can get a 3 down LB this draft who can start right away and get 8-10 sacks it will help everyone.

If we are depending on Maybin for anything we are in big trouble.

He needs to bulk up. 6'4 240 won't cut it for linebacker. He needs to gain more weight, in muscle of course if he hopes to be an every down back.

You are absolutely correct. Some guys just love to hate Jets players. If Rex can get him to produce 6 sacks in 10 games when the other team knew he was our only legit. passrusher, imagine what happens when :
1- he gets a bit stronger
    2- he knows the system

3 he gets a full training camp in including OTAs and weight room sessions
4- Ricky Sapp or someone else we get to play opposite him and that guy has speed and passrush skills, the sky is the limit!

5 why do so many guys think they know more about football then Rex Ryan and Mr. T?

I agree. 6 sacks and 4 forced fumbles is signs of a impact player. I expect him to get only better this year.

Glad we got somebody healthy to sign on the line. Let's see if those Nike cleats can keep Maybin on his feet, that will up the sack count.

It's hilarious how some people still look for nothing but negatives in every single situation. Yes, a training camp in our system WILL help him. How can people just discount that? Nah, training camps mean nothing, he's one dimensional and always will be. He's miles better than gholston and this is great news. If we draft a first round pass rusher, we will have them, Maybin and Pace, which will definitely make the position younger and stronger, unless we draft another ghost, but I doubt it. I can't wait until that draft. With our youth on the defensive line as well, it will also help our pass rush as those guys get better.

IIRC, he dropped 12 pounds down to 228 because he had pneumonia. 240- 250 would be fine, especially for an outside rusher. Remember, James Harrison is only 6', 242.

I must admit, I was shocked Ryan got all that production out of Maybin. He sucked so bad under Goerge Edwards. Shows why Ryan has the rep he does. Be interested to see if he does it two years in a row.

it's not "I" that will be backing up any claims. you have me confused with maybin, afterall, he's the one that plays the game. i just don't see maybin being a monster as some here seem to think.

maybin's quick, but other than that, not very big or strong. seems to me the best rushers have all those qualities.

maybin may get his 6 to 8 sacks next season, but i doubt he'll be anything along the the lines of a game changer or someone the offense has to game plan for. so in other words, "nothing special".

    we'll see come next season.

I don't see anyone calling him a monster. What I took exception with in your post was you calling him a "one trick pony". Why do you say that? He's quick and has learned to use a variety of pass rushing moves that play off his quickness. He made a lot of progress last year, yet you claim he's hit his ceiling. Why can't he continue to progress?

this is a very busy time of the year for my business so excuse me if i don't take the time to hang on this board to please some of those that do.

mangold 74, are you a band wagon fan? reason i ask is you've just recently appeared on the board and wonder where you've been in the past. are you a fan only when the jets are winning?

as far as knowledge, i'll stand by my past thoughts/posts to anything you've posted.

i was never a sanchez fan from the start, it's on the record posting here.
never a gholston fan like so many that thought he would be a beast, LOL.
never a noodle fan like so many here thought he was a franchise QB, even more laughable.
was never a mangini fan even during his mangenious season, one year wonder like mangold74.
was in favor of rex at the start, but have seen enough to know he's a great defensive co, but not head coach material.
not a tanny fan, he's a glorified book keeper, not a football personel man.

i've been right far more than wrong and far more than you mangold74. sanchez sucks and maybin is nothing special and mangold74 wouldn't know a good football player coach if his life depended on it. you're a bandwagon fan, the worst kind!

also mangold74, i don't use excuses like "i was drunk" for posting moronic posts! it's better to not post than to do it for the sake of just seeing your name up on the board. especially when you don't know a hell of a lot about what you're talking about!

he's a one trick pony because all he can do is speed rush. has no power and is a joke against the run.

can he improve? sure! but don't you think he should have been doing that during his first 4 years in the league, rather than waiting till now.

He has much more than a speed rush now. He developed several moves over the course of the season. Yes, he sucks against the run, but he's much more than just a speed rusher at this point.

Wow. You are certainly a darksider. I'm sorry. Perhaps you should consider other, more healthy, pursuits like fondling puppies. If you don't mind me asking, are you a mortician by trade?

but what is so bad about that - if his one dimensional rush gig can produce 8-10 sacks, 3-4 fumbles, especially on third down - sign me up.

i posted the other day if we even see a bit more production this year compared to last the jets should be thrilled. hey even a repeat performance would be good.
