It wasn't a secrete that even after the Jets hired Saprano as their new OC that they wanted to hire a passing coordinator this last off season, but struck out. Although I an not a huge fan of this coach and the Jets would take yet another PR hit, does it make sense for the Jets to explore offing the position to Patrino? He is obviously someone who is going to need some time to prove (or fool) people that he is rehabilitated. He wouldn't have to talk to the press since he is not the OC, and even though he is a douche, he does understand how to implement a passing game.
Absolutely not. 1) Nothing that he did in Atlanta suggests that he's a good NFL coach. 2) He's a toxic personality, and really just an all around bad guy. You can get away with that garbage if you're great, but he's not, so fuck him.
I've supported every move the Jets have made this offseason. If they even consider hiring Petrino it would make me sick. Thankfully, I don't see this becoming any sort of reality.
He's known as a very good play caller - I don't know what system(s) he's worked in though. I'd like to hear from someone that knows more about that area before I formed an opinion. I don't care to much about him being a turd of a person.
Perhaps you should read more about him. Even if you don't read about his time at Arkansas, surely you've heard how he quit on the Falcons and didn't even have the balls to address the team to their faces about why is was leaving. He's a gutless coward who quit on his team when things got rough. I don't care how good he is, he has no place on the Jets, my Jets, our Jets.
I know all about that shit, I don't give a shit. So he's not a head coach. That doesn't mean he's not a very good play caller. Some people can't handle the pressure of being a head coach. He kind of got screwed by Vick in Atlanta too.
Sparano is probably capable of calling an NFL offense. He's been a HC before, I'm sure he can handle play calling duties. He did do some play-calling in Dallas. Terrible idea imo, fuck Petrino he's a joke.
In Dallas he had Haley in charge of the passing game. I agree that he probably CAN call an NFL offense, but there's a reason the Jets were interviewing Haley.
Probably because Haley is an addition to any staff in this league in a less-than-HC capacity. I think we'll be fine with Sparano after Schottenheimer for 6 years.
seriously his passing attack could come straight from the run'n'gun madden playbook and itd still be better than what we were running with schitthead
Sparano mentioned he ran a "run n' shoot" offense during his college days. He knows there's more to offense than running the ball.
No thanks, the Jets provide enough media fodder without a move like that. Rex would probably lose a hundred pounds running between the locker room and making sure Patrino didn't get him bent over a barrel.
The offense in miami was all Running the ball and big plays over the top Henne or Moore the Offense stayed the same
Ok then, I guess you don't mind low character cowards, who are quitters, with poor morals leading and coaching our players.
The reason the Jets were interviewing Haley was because Sparano and Haley liked working together in that capacity, it was reported many times before it was even rumored about Sparano to the Jets.
The only consistent thing about the 2011 Jets offense was the lack of big pass plays but moreso the lack of attempts for big plays. It could be attributed to a shitty OL, or maybe Sanchez being inaccurate at times, but nevertheless it seemed like they didn't even TRY to stretch the field. It was east-west dink/dunk with streaky running. Very frustrating.
