is this post serious? have you absolutely no idea what is going on in the season ticket sales department? then to call someone stupid... thats pretty funny.
you clearly have no idea what youre talking about if you think that adding tebow was a plan for the FO to increase ticket sales. have you no clue about the waiting list for season tickets and the jets being one of the only teams that doesnt even offer single game ticket options to fans? the jets actually have had more success with PSLs than the giants.
Listen I want to thank you guys for my recent upgrade. I don't know if it was you on the phone the other day or not, but I certainly appreciate it. Keep up the good work in the ticket office and by all means, keep the spin coming so that we can fill up that upper deck! You might want to tone it down a bit though, because your above post comes across as not only unbelievable, it's laughable. Actually, "guffawable" is probably a better description.
Tebow was without a doubt brought here to play football yes,,,but also to help put fannies in the seats if you think otherwise that's naive. I have seen more than one person say that the Jets are close or Loaded with talent and my concern is that management feels exactly the same way. IMO we are a good team but far from loaded with talent,,,,,,,I am worried that Tanny and Rex actually believe some of the stuff they say,,,,,best team, most talent ever,,,,,we have very little depth,,,,our off line has huge questions,,,,,,no pass rusher,,,,,,aging linebackers,,,,,,and there is more ,,,,see our safeties,,,,,,,I have very average expectations for next year,,,hopefully they prove me wrong
227 i am very surprised at how pleasant you were in that reply... when i read your name i said oh boy this guy just got 227'd. greatwayne, you are thinking about what things were like in the old stadium. this stadium has not and probably will not ever be like that.
It's obvious it is you who have "no clue". I am a season ticket holder and still get E-mails asking me to buy more PSL seats. Your post is incorrect.
I would imagine PSL owners and season ticket holders might have a sharper perspective on this than most of us average fans would. Mainly because they're vested to a much higher degree. I would tend to side with 227 and Joe on this one.
Down on LBI with my laptop and lapping up this guy's misconceptions and/or hallucinations. Enjoying myself for the weekend, but there is so much that needs to be said in reply. Why don't you break the ice for me and I'll be back to give him his due. That's providing he surfaces again. Most JO's that post nonsense like this are too cowardly of too punked out to ever return, even once after being challenged.
Or people like you who have their mind set on thinking a certain way, its not worth my time. It doesnt make any sense at all to think that fans in the tri state area would rally behind tebow to the point where it would increase PSLs is stupid. instead of using the stephen a. smith philosophy of thinking, if you think logically it doesnt make sense. who would decide to shell out the money for a PSL because the team added a back up quarterback?
You are extremely naive if you think that even part of this move was done in mind with sales benefitting. Dont you know this franchise at all? All they want to do is make a splash, sell seats and be on the front page. There are a ton of people who will pay to just see Tebow because in their eyes he is more than just a backup QB. Cmon man, dont you see all the Tebowites from 3/12? Shouldnt that answer your question right there? ESPN is still following this story and its been over 2 weeks since he got here...
im not arguing what the results of the trade are. im arguing the intentions of the trade. the plan wasnt to sell tickets or make a splash. the plan was to make our team better and while i dont agree that it did at the end of the day tanny and im sure rex had some say felt that this move did that
wayne, the jets had a press conference for said backup qb... they did it in the field house because that was the only facility they had that was BIG enough for all of the media who showed up so they could have their own footage to show on tv and put in the their papers. because they sell those papers to people who are interested in timmy tebone. www.theganggreen.com created an entire sub forum for all of the people who came here strictly and only because of timmy tebone... this did not happen when brett favre came to new york. just to give you a little perspective. both tannenbaum and ryan work for robert wood johnson, he owns the team, he really really gets happy when tickets get sold... see he makes money on those tickets. he also makes money when EVERYONE in the entire country is talking about the jets. its great advertising. timmy tebone will be speaking at easter mass somewhere this weekend to 30,000 people. i am not even going to get involved in how bad the jets need to get, keep and get back season ticket holders... especially in the upper deck. i am going to leave that for 227 to explain to you... and trust me he will surely explain it to you. its my assertion that the jets traded for timmy tebone SOLELY because he brings all of the attention and ticket sales. forget about the merchandise and free advertising. and i may be wrong there may be an actual football related portion to this whole thing. BUT to think that there is no portion of the entire lets bring timmy tebone to new york situation that is related to the back page of the paper, the espn coverage and especially the ticket sales is absurd.
..I was just thinking that. Mind you, I don't mean they'll sign him to a contract. But the way they bring in names to mentor\teach the players, (Namath, Girardi, Pennington, etc..) it would not surprise me in the least to see Favre pop up during training camp to work with Tebow & Sanchez. The Jets are the only team that Brett hasn't (significantly) burned his bridges with. After a year away from the spotlight, he'll be hungry for Hardknocks.. and HBO will be hungry back.
Regarding Brad's post and the general discussion... It's funny how there are posts where I agree with much of what is said, and then choke on some part of it. How much does that element I find is in error undercut the value of the overall post? Perhaps in his general animosity toward the path this team has taken, he paints with too broad and dark a brush. Perhaps. I agree with him about Woody, and am increasingly of the opinion that Woody has and will continue to take an approach to this team that will prevent it from winning the big one. But... that doesn't mean there will not be, or certainly cannot be, some partial successes from time to time. For example, it's not a common view around here, but were it not for a late season injury, the Favre move could well have ended quite nicely. That win over NE that year was one of the best Jet wins of the last ten or longer years. I also disagree with his imo misguided antipathy toward corners capable of playing man defense. The Raiders with Hayes and Haynes were a team that won the SB with that approach, so he is just plain wrong. 38-9 wrong against arguably the best O in the league that year. But where I generally agree is that the Jet FO follows no consistent and effective approach. It clearly has not taken the path of building a solid team piece by piece, with pieces that fit together well. I think the reason is so obvious it stares us in the face - there is no real football guy or group of guys making the calls on how the team is put together. Woody is not, Tanny is not, and while Ryan is a football guy, he apparently either does not know offense enough or does not have enough say in how the offense is put together. We all need to accept that while it is not impossible that this FO would win an SB, it is very unlikely. Imo it will take Woody selling the team to improve the situation. He's just the wrong kind of owner.
How about we give Gregg Williams front row season tickets, and Mike Pettines cell number....maybe let him bring a whiteboard and markers in...?
There's a reason the guys running the franchise and doing the head coaching job are consistently under-qualified for the positions they hold. Putting a real football guy in charge, getting a real no-nonsense head coach, these things would take away a lot of the latitude that Woody has to just go do something promotional on a whim. When was the last time the Jets had a GM or head coach that nobody could dispute was fully qualified for the job? The pro personnel follies just spring out of everything else that is going on. If you have a GM who is not grounded in the basics and a head coach that is learning on the job and doesn't know what to ask for how can you possibly have a well-coordinated strategy for acquiring talent? I went into this off-season believing that most of what went on in terms of the miscalculations on talent was a result of Woody having an inherited power structure underneath him from the Parcells days having Tannenbaum without Parcells. I figured that he was learning on the go and just didn't have the depth of knowledge or experience that owners like the Giants and Steelers and Ravens had. I figured Bradway/Tannenbaum and Herm/Mangini/Rex were a result of that learning process. The Tebow move coming on the heels of the Sanchez extension now makes me think otherwise. I think Woody is fully in charge and the disorganization extends down from him. Tannenbaum is his enabler. Well the cap moving forward is going to make that structure crash and burn.
I'm truly in disbelief at some of the posts in here. if you all think this franchise is in such bad shape...you must have been in Psych wards during the Hess/Kotite eras. As bad as i want to see the Jets win it all...some of you boneheads deserve your pessimistic, short sighted misery.
