Mark's first public statement after Tebow trade. he's just giving generic answers. Cant really take much from this, but lets see what you guys think... article is too long to quote so just follow the link http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...nce-Call/82aef549-b217-477d-8180-c0cdaaa8e6c5
Hes definitely not happy about coming off the field for potentially 20 snaps as Rex says. Tebow should get a max 15 snaps.
As somebody said earlier, if Tebow is in 20 plays a game it doesn't mean he is replacing Sanchez on any or all of them. He can lineup at TE, RB, FB or WR.
I did a number of times. There was even a viral Youtube clip of him getting punked during one of those occasions. Here's the thing. Personnel changes happen before the huddle. After the huddle breaks with Sanchez leading it, and he runs to the sideline to line up as wideout, their whole defense has to change. That's why they need to use Tebow at a position other than WC QB, and why I think they will.
Exactly what I've said a few times here. Sanchez behind center, Tebow in the slot, goes in motion and takes a direct snap, or goes in motion, Sanchez shifts to WR, and chaos. The D gets confused. Tebow takes it for a 7 yard run. After a few plays, same sequence. This time D is ready for a Tebow run and leaves Sanchez alone. Tebow takes the snap, fakes a run, but throws to a wide open Sanchez for a FD and more. That's why I think the Jets offense will be exciting to watch this year.
I think the logical conclusion is that he's not getting 20 snaps under center, or in the shotgun, even. The WC would be completely ineffective if he did.
For sure man. He'll line up as TE/HB/QB at different times. Keep the defense completely off guard because they won't know which is just a regular play with Tebow in the TE/HB role and which plays he is going to get a direct snap or whatever. Should make the defense second guess things a bit more, cause them to hesitate just enough to give us an edge. Plus even if Tebow lines up as the QB the defense is going to have to worry about a run or a throw unlike a lot of wildcats that are obviously runs or very, very low yardage throws. You might still have a bit of confusion on coverage and whatnot.
i dont think sparano will let tebow throw much at all...i dont think tebow will have more than 15 pass attempts the whole season
That's fine with me, I don't want him to throw much but I'm just saying they have to respect that he can throw. If we didn't have someone like Tebow who would be getting the wildcat snaps for us? Greene? Kerley? McKnight? I don't even know. Regardless you could be pretty sure that whoever it is wouldn't be throwing a deep ball so the defensive secondary can almost immediately leave their coverages to try and stop any run from getting too deep. With Tebow if they see Tebow with the ball they are still going to have to at least consider the possibility of a pass and won't be able to come off of their coverages...if they don't come off the coverages until he's past the line of scrimmage that could be an extra few yards that he gets if he runs, if they do come off their coverages early then he has the ability to get someone a deep ball and we'd pick up significant yards if not an automatic TD.
You will definitely see some bombs..he throws the long ball as good as anybody does, that's the one throw he does very well.
No he doesn't. He throws the long ball as OFTEN as anybody else. He and Mark Sanchez both completed 25% of their long balls last season. Tebow threw a bunch more of them though. If you just look at passes thrown 31+ then Tebow is at 4 for 26 and Sanchez is at 2 for 12. Guess what?
This Tebow / Sanchez will actually work out for the better. To avoid serious injury to a QB the Jets will play musical chairs. This will keep both QBs healthy. In case jets are not able to trade Hunter.
