Falcons running back T.J. Duckett is now believed to be on the Jets' radar and may be available for a third-round pick, a price the Jets appear willing to pay. Duckett and Suggs are both represented by Joel Segal, who didn't return several phone calls yesterday.

That would be cheap for a guy who given a chance and not haven a lot of mileage on his legs. That would definitely make up for the disappointment of Suggs failing his physical.

very unproven back.....I thought he would've been a decent power back by now but he's shown very little in terms of breaking tackles and moving the chains.

Mainly, I hate this b/c there is a draft pick involved....Don't do it TANGINI.

TJ Duckett is a starter in this league, or should be. Of course, I'd try to get them down to a 4th rounder or something, but TJ Duckett is worth a 3rd rounder.

I like Duckett. I think if he were to get 20-25 carries a game he could be a stud. Splitting time with Warrick Dunn has hurt his production. Typically it takes big backs a few carries to get into a the flow of the game. I like it, but for a 4th. Heard pittsburgh is after him as well.

Duckett is a bust! I have watched several Atlanta games over the past few years and this guy is not worth trading for. He is a big back who gets arm tackled. Not good!

Funny you should bring this up. Falcons fans are thinking the same thing: Duckett to the Jets.

At this point getting a 3rd rounder (as intimated by JetsIn2004) would be a coup.

    I'd give a 5th pick for him.

    I wouldn't dislike Duckett for a 3rd rounder, but if it's a 4th rounder, I'd be much more pleased.

I have watched falcon games, and he was even on my fantasy team 2 years ago, Im not sure about this guy it seems like his supporters are a lot of talk and no proof...One thing is for sure, I would rather have suggs!

I don't like this trade but based on this Insider rumur central posting maybe a Jmac for duckett trade is in the works. This combined with the article at the top (of this post) may make sense.

    Falcons exploring options
<Aug. 3> The Falcons, who recently lost Brian Finneran to a season-ending knee injury, are exploring trade possibilities for either Oakland's Jerry Porter or Denver's Ashley Lelie, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"We're still working through a lot of scenarios that could involve players from another team, players out on the street and players that are on our team," coach Jim Mora said.

Whether either Porter or Lelie would settle for being the No. 3 receiver could be another issue, but Mora said any player the Falcons bring in would not replace or even compete with Michael Jenkins and Roddy White, the team's starting wide receivers.

You do not trade 3rd round picks for career underachiever. I can't understand the fascination with this guy, especially for a 3rd round pick.. It is the classic example of other teams trash being better than our own trash.. I'd prefer him to Suggs but only if its the same kind of deal, say Strait or JMac..

Could someone tell me what decent #3 or #4 Wideouts we would have left if we lost JMac?

If the Falcs have any interest in Strait, I suggest a package of Strait and a 5th or 6th rounder for Duckett.

A combo backfield that includes Duckett and Wash/Houston would work just fine in my opinion.

Its getting ridiculous, its clear we need a back. TJ Duckett is a good back. I just don't get it. Say we do get him and next year we draft another young back, who can split some time with Duckett just like hes been doing. This way next year we don't throw our rookie RB right in there and still have a productive RB. We have two 2nd rd picks. Please I wish everyone would be excited about this season and stop trying to do stuff like the damn Patriots.

He rushes for nearly 4 yards a clip (and that includes a down year in 2005) in very limited time in an offense not suited to his style. He's also ammassed 31 TDs in his 4 seasons in very limited.

I'm not getting where people think Duckett is an underachiever just because he's behind Warrick Dunn.

  19. This is the absolute truth. Duckett has been productive during his time in the NFL in a system he does not fit in. The ultra-zone scheme the Falcons run emphasizes cutbacks, hesitation and than burst. Not exactly a textbook skillset for a power back.

This is a guy who would fit our team's new personality very well. he has thye ability to be a work horse, will be hungry to maintain a starting position, and will be in a scheme that will fit him alittle better.
