Yes. We are all getting played by the Jets FO. Tannenbaum only traded for Tebow to send a message to Sanchez. He isn't that stupid when it comes to contracts. He knew he had an out, announced it early to test the NY media waters and send a message to Sanchez. The Jets' plan all along was to either flip him to the desperate Jags seperately later or move forward in a 3-way in which they get get a pick/player (Lowery?) from the Jags. In the event this fell through, the Jets stick with Tebow who lights a fire under Sanchez's fanny, runs the wildcat effectively for the year and then they flip him next year to the Jags when they are desperate after the Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert experiment fail.
It really is better than any other explanation. Most likely some stupid intern cued up the twitter and launched the announcement before the Jets FO had finished reviewing the contract and faxed the trade paperwork to the league. No one wants to believe that and it is obviously the simplest explanation to what transpired this afternoon.
Cant say the possibility Tanny knew about the 5 mill all aloong and knew he had an out didnt cross my mind. whether thats what I believe or not im not sure.
All the contracts are available for review by GMs on an NFL website. Say all you want about Tannenbaum when it comes to talent eval, but the guy knows his contracts.
This is as bad as those fans who think tebow is a good football player. The intelligence of jets fans never surprises me.
Truthfully, this is what I was thinking. Tebow is a commodity. Does Tanny flip him to the Jags and trade firsts? I think what you said makes sense. i think there is a lot more to this trade then we are seeing right now. Even if we dont unload him before the draft or the season starts, we use him as another Brad smith (4th rd pick as well). It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Tanny views them all as commodities. Belichicken does the same thing - he was an economics major at Wesleyan - where he also played TE, which may explain his constant drafting and emphasis on the TE position. Anyway, bring Tebow in for a year, see how he works out. If things bust out with Sanchez because Tebow is in as the #3 QB and part-time player, we have more important things to worry about. The Jets will not only be looking for a QB, they will be looking for a new GM and coach.
So let me get this straight. Not only was the inquiry about obtaining Peyton Manning a shot over Sanchez bow ; Mr. Tebow was also a warning to Sanchez as well. ... O.K. Your not serious are you? I can go along with possibly picking him up to get a higher Draft pick out of Jacksonville , but since we bit the bullet on 2.5 million dollars for a option Quarter back I do not think that is a plausible assumption. As for Tanny not fully understanding the full details of Tebow's trading clause ; I can believe that after the last few years and Tannenbaum Deserve to be fired if he didn't fully vet this deal. Ultimately I know Tebow will play his ass off to prove his detractors wrong and he will be the new wild cat quarter back. I hope it all works out. Next player picked up better be a real RT tackle , so Timmy time has somewhere to run to....Dear God why have you forsaken us?
I don't see a reason they couldn't play both QBs. Let's be honest, unlike most NFL teams, the Jets have as good of a QB situation as anyone. We all know how hard it is to find a great backup in this league. (Delhomme Signing)
it's a teabagging no matter what angle you look at it from. i hope Tebow proves me wrong and shuts my ass up with a great season by running in a few td's and genuinely help the team, but this guy in new york is like a 4 foot breaking barry zito curveball to this poster. why?
