You guys do know that Tebow is fast for a QB but not for a RB? 4.7 40's.

He gets his open field ability from the fact that he is a QB who can do other things with the ball so defenders have to play him that way. As a RB he is probably going to suck.

4.62 is his best if I remember which is .1 better then Shonn Greene. He's a power runner not a burner. Just because he is not a starting QB does not mean that defenses are going to respect his ability to pass less.

I really think Tim Tebow could beat Shonn Greene in a footrace with pads on.

If he can lead the Jets into the playoffs the same way he did with the Broncos, Jets fans will defend him and take him. Sanchez had little around him and I guess they feel like they can build around Tebow. The shelf life on Tebow is going to be short if he doesn't improve his arm strength and accuracy. How long can a QB run in this league before his body starts to wear down? Not long.

My point is that if you line him up in the backfield and expect him to be Tim Tebow you're going to be disappointed. He's not that fast and he's not a bruising runner either from the standpoint of big backs.

The reason he's as good a runner as he is as a QB is because he's effectively running the wildcat when they call a run for him. That gives him the same advantage any wildcat QB has, which is a back behind him to pitch to on an option, and an extra blocker in front of him because he's the QB carrying the ball instead of scuttling out of the way after he hands it off.

Put Tebow behind Sanchez and you don't have more than an average runner at best and that's pushing it a bit.

Tebow has been given QB #2 position.

Will have a special package for each game and be primary backup to Sanchez.

    I say we make Tebow a RB/QB/FB/TE/OLB/STeamer.

Guy is Jesus Christ Almighty, He can do anything.

He's 6 3 245. Hes a big man. Im not saying he should be taking hand offs 15 times a game but I don't see why they can't give him a few hand offs as well as let him run the option. We need someone to spell Greene. It should be Tebow and not Mcknight.

We shouldve put Brad Smith at RB since he was effective in the wildcat... haha

It really is a nonsequitur. His running style wont translate to that of a NFL caliber RB. Tebow would be extremely lucky play up to Toby Gerhart standards if he was an actual RB...

    Yall be crazy....

I dont give a hell what you think Ima tell you what I know, Tebow is now a RB. whether hes listed that way or not, there is a place for him in this league and ya know what, it right here on the New York Jets.

And it is not as a Qb it is as an all around threat.

A guy that can come in and run the ball after Shonn Greene has beat up a defense, a guy who can come in and make them wonder, whats goin on? A guy who can make alot of things happen.... But its all a supplementary role.

Tebow is NOT THAT GOOD when it comes to being the man. He does a damn good job considering the level of talent he is against in the NFL but it is still and will never be enough.

However in the kind of role and the one that I believe the Jets envision for him I think he can help take this offense over a big hump and help Mark Sanchez develop, IF the Jets do it right.

That means sending a clear message that Tebow is here in a supplementary role, not as a backup or saftey plan, which I 100% believe he is not.

Hes here for his skill set and how we can use it to our advantage, which is what any team, including the Broncos should have done from the start.

I think his low at the combine was 4.62 that's pretty quick for his size , he can definitely be a starting back, he had 950 yards in 16 starts ( includes playoffs ) and spot play in a few other games .

You can complain about his anticipation and footwork as QB but he can flat out run the rock.

I'm actually not convinced he can't be a rb for 10 carries a game. Def can't carry a full load, but I'd give him 10.

Tebow is an effective short yardage/red zone weapon. More importantly he works very hard, which will bring a little bit extra energy to the team. No lineman, LB or RB wants to be out-worked by a QB.

Is everyone really this dumb? It's this simple:

#1 - We actually have someone to pressure Sanchez into improving. I'm a Sanchez backer as much as any informed Jet fan, but he needs someone to push him to perform. If he is that much of a wimp where some media pressure is going to make him digress in his 4th year here then he is not our long term quarterback anyway. How anyone can argue that?

#2 - At the very least, you just got a proven Wild-Cat back for a fourth round pick (swapping 6&7th is largely inconsequential) and not a terrible at all cap hit. Our last 4th round pick: Bilal Powell. I'd rather have a proven Wild-Cat back then take a random shot on a 4th rounder any day. Tim Tebow will contribute more to this team then Bilial Powell this year, I can absolutely assure you that.

#3 - WTF is wrong with a QB competition? As I said before, if Sanchez is gonna be a baby, then screw him, he is not a franchise QB. If Tebow gives us the best chance of winning, stop hating on him because he is Tim Tebow. I did not hear everyone complaining when the Jets were courting Chad Henne? It's like our own fans have something against a guy wearing our jersey, just cause he was caught up in a media hype machine, that he had nothing to do with. Damn, why is QB so precious for peoples ego, but other positions are not? You think we shouldn't bring in any free agents, because we might hurt the incumbents feelings? This is the NFL, get real.

In the end, lets put the best damn team on the field. I could not care less about anyone's feelings because if hubris effects their play, then they are not good players to begin with!

As a Pats fan I now feel closer to the Jets with our mutual hatred of all things Giants. Ha. Look, there were rumors BB was gonna get Tebow. I said take him and put him in as a Running Back. The guy runs over EVERYONE. Talk about Ground and Pound. If Rex is smart he should use him this way. I really think this could work. Think outside the box and come up with some creative packages. He can throw every now and then too but mostly hand him or toss him the ball and let him run down team's throats. Just putting him back there would open up some pass opportunities. I hope for your sake Rex is thinking this way and not just trying to help the locker room or any other nonsense. If BB used him like this he would be said to be a genius in the media. Rex should do the same.

Can I complain about 9 completions per game? He's not an NFL QB.
