I guess the next bounty they put out will be on Goodell?

Wow. Safety is NO JOKE. How will the Saints do this year? It is Matty Ice year? Or even SuperCam?

    Payton for a year.

    GM suspended 8 games.

Team fined $500,000 and penalized two 2nd round picks ('12 and '13)

Not sure which affects them most... Oh yeah, not having a HC.

I've never understood what the big deal was. It seemed like 90% of the current and former players were fine with this when interviewed. I think this is way more then was deserved. I still think Spygate was more of a black eye then this.

the hammer is being brought down because it involved players, and potentially injuring other players, which is at the top of Goddell's "No No" list

Insane punishment here. I don't get Payton's year suspension. That seems a bit much IMO.

"When there is targeting of players for injury and cash rewards over a three-year period, the involvement of the coaching staff, and three years of denials and willful disrespect of the rules, a strong and lasting message must be sent that such conduct is totally unacceptable and has no place in the game." --Roger Goodell

I wonder how many players were actually injured in games vs saints and then compared to the average

Regardless, the intent behind it is why the suspensions were given. Personally I don't have a problem with the suspensions. They were harsher than I thought they would be, to be honest.

Wonder what the players involved will get now.

Everyone criticizing the punishment is ignoring the fact that the league warned the Saints this season to knock off the bounty program and they ignored it, which undoubtedly factored into the punishment.

you don't ignore the commissioner and expect anything less than as severe a punishment as reasonably possible.

Your right Browning, but the Saints are screwed. Wow, what penalties are the players going to get.

How does Intent work in a case of law? Honestly curious about that.

If the intent was to kill but you only beat someone up don't you only get charged with assault and not murder? I would assume.

I think you could be charged with attempted murder. I doubt it could go there.
