Pass rush from the front 4. Then bump n run on the wide receivers since they have nobody who can beat you down the field. Stop the short routes, and Brady has trouble throwing down the field unless its Gronk and he has 7 feet area to throw to.

If you create constant pressure with the front 4, either the TE or RB would have to stay in to chip and run a route or block completely to stop Brady from getting hit.

The Steelers and Giants used this strategy the best to stop the Pats. The Giants did it twice, and the Steelers once.

The Ravens used a lot more coverage and blitzes and still got the job done. I don't know why but the last two games of this past season Brady made a lot of poor throws and decisions. I think its because he got rattled. That's how the Jets won in Foxboro in the playoffs. If you rewatch the game, the Jets could get pressure from 3 or 4 guys and then Brady started getting happy feet and panicing. He missed a lot of open receivers and rushed throws before guys were open. You can't consistently blitz him because he is too smart and will pick up on the blitzes and pick you apart.

We aren't going to stop them, all you can hope to do is outscore them but they haven't even started to fix the defense yet.

There r only so many weapons Pats can use on a play. They can add the world and it would still be the same offense from last year. People are this out to be some sort of a unique monstrous offense.

'09 we had constant pressure thanks to Rex's exotic blitzes. Brady was under constant fire, plus we completely shut them down in the RZ forcing them to just three FGs.

The '10 regular season win completely escapes my mind, but what I do remember from it and the '09 win was that Brady still had Moss and he tried constantly to force the long bomb to Randy. That's where his big mistakes came in those games.

The '10 Divisional game was largely thanks to the confusing coverages and difficult pre-snap reads Rex implemented. I remember reading somewhere that Brady had never seen such a difficult defense to read pre-snap. The defense also credited Rex for divising such a plan. Bu let's not forget that we never sniff a W in that game without the amazing job Shaun Ellis did, commanding and fighting through double teams and harassing Brady all game long. The game featured also some of the stapled Rex Ryan defense with faking overload blitzes and bringing a blitzer untouched.

Rex gave the play calling duties to Petine last year. In 09 and 10 we had a smuthering defence by overload blitzing and press coverage. We got away from that last year. IMO, and I say this very cautiously, we have to get back to that style of football. We consistently pressured QBs and when your in Brady's face he has a meltdown. We were able to hide alot of our safeties imperfections by pressing the QBs.

'10 win was when Revis got hurt and then Brady thought he could be Cro covering Moss. Funny thing is one of the best things Cro can do is run in a straight line and cover a receiver who didn't feel like being physical.

    Some key things in here:

Brady just flat out missed on his pick. Just didn't see the field and messed up. You have to take advantage as it usually doesn't happen often.

Brady looked scared in the pocket on most of his missed throws. He had a ton of time, but the Jets were able to make him move and keep on wondering where the pressure was.

The Jets were playing with a lead most of that game. Force Brady to have to get chunks of yards down the field instead of dinking and dunking his way down the field to kill clock.

On that long drive that netted 0 points for the Pats: On the 2nd and long play Brady ran into the pressure. On 3rd and long Brady had happy feet and looked scared. On 4th and 13, a really inaccurate throw that should have been caught. Another throw down the field where his accuracy has been suspect.

It won't be the same, they added 3 WRs (so far) so they can stretch the field. Without that people would have probably figured out how to stop their TEs this year.

    I agree.

However, the league has caught up with some of the disguises and there's only so much trickery you can get away with. We have the #1 corner in the league, and opposite him is a corner that is a #1 on 28 other teams.

I hate to say this, but I almost miss Kerry Rhodes. A cover safety would do wonders for this team. Landry available for 16+ games would be HUGE.

Fells is a pretty underrated pickup for them too. Now that they have a blocking tight end, Gonzalez can line up as a WR if needed. And they can probably try him in the backfield again as well. With Gonzalez just focusing on catching now, he's going to be a threat also.

OK so how many WRs can play at the same time?

    3 WRs?

    2 TE's

    5 Linemen

    1 QB

They can't have more than 11 people on the field at once. Revis - Lloyd. They are down to 10 now.

    So easy!

Spend 8 bazillion dollars on cornerbacks, draft another cb in the 1st round, ignore upgrading the front 7 and get safeties who are terrible in coverage.

Oh wait, you said STOP the Patriots offense. I have no clue how to do that.

Pats offense is going to be scary good again. I think the only way to slow it down is bump and run, combined with a solid pass rush. The Jets as of right now, lack a safety who can cover a tight end, as well as anybody that can generate a regular pass rush. Not a good combo.

uummm, they did actually make it to the superbowl, even with that lousey defense. they've since added an excellent blocking tightend and robert gallery, an excellent blocking guard so they'll be better running the ball and striking down the field with even better recievers. then they still have the 2 firsts and 2 second rd picks in the draft for defense. jets aren't going to compete with them next year for the division again, wild card if the jets improve at best!

with what they're doing in free agency, one can see they are definitely going all defense in the draft. if they get just slightly better defensively, they'll be tough for anyone to beat.

they seem to be doing everything to get better, which i thought the jets would be doing. robert gallery, brandon loyd, fells are all players that the jets should have been competing for hard, they are all positions of need at starters and depth. as i've said in previous posts, players aren't looking to be jets after the embarrassing ending to our season. other afc teams are passing the jets on by.

the problem is they beat the jets at their own game last season, running the ball better than the jets. now in FA, they have improved their oline,TE and should be even better running the ball. jets haven't added the pieces needed to compete with new england and won't.

Yup. The Jets had a solid game plan in their few wins against Brady (mainly the AFC divisional game), but the two games since Belichick has countered it. It doesn't help either that our offense has played like total shit in those last 2 games.

Patsfan is right, we need an elite pass rusher. The corners we have are great, but unfortunately when Revis shuts down Welker, and Cro shuts down Branch, Gronk and Hernandez just destroy the middle of the field. Then when we try to contain that area, they rush the law firm and we run out of gas.
