This is a low risk high reward signing.. this could be our Vicor Cruz who comes out of no where for next year. You can't hate on young tall fast and probably cheap.. all those factors make it a good signing ...I hope it pans out

Seems like another plax in all honesty. Can make some pretty nice catches but YAC virtually non-existent

Big fast receiver with good hands. If he can stay healthy and is given a chance at some playing time, I think he can be a good player for us.

We added some big speed, which we needed, So that's good.

Also worth noting Schilens had a pretty decent season in 09 in the games he started, and that was with Fricken Jamarcus Russel @ qb

He's talking about the other 7-8 catches where he's either diving for the ball or just falls down the instant he gets it.

Gotta say does anyone else think this eliminates us from the Braylon signing possability ?

I mean after last year id imagine that we learned how important it is to have recievers.

But at the same time Holmes/Schilen/Kerley + Rookie (im sure were gonna draft someone) seems pretty roundned out.

And turner isnt terrible for a 5th option, seems to me like the Braylon ship has sailed

Every catch he makes is a body catch and then he immediately falls down. How do you not see this?

I agree with this. This might eliminate the Braylon talk.

There is no way u can count on this guy to be our 2nd wr,,,,,,he is good when on the field',,,,,,,,,,but that rarely happens,',,,,,,,,,,we cannot count on Kelley should this guy get hurt,,',,,,,,we spent peanuts thus far,,,,,go get a legit 2nd wr. Ps if our offensive line is not addressed I do not think it will matter who runs throws or catches the ball,,,,,,,,

I think the move is good just for the potential alone. I think this ends the chance of JCO not Bray comin back. I think Holmes and Kerley have the 2 and 3 WR positions on lock. I believe Holmes is a #2 WR where as traditionally the tall, can go deep, and blocking WR is your #1.

Having said that I think Braylon can come and retake his #1 position even tho technically they will call him a #2. Then Chaz can solidify the #4 WR and obviously we have a #5 P. Turner.

    #1 Braylon
    #2 Santonio
    #3 J. Kerley
    #4 C. Shilens
    #5 P. Turner

Potential WR to get burn E. Riley, may eventually take Turner spot, if given the opportunity

I doubt Braylon is coming now, which bums me out. If anything, Sanchez needs consistency at WR. I hope they bring back Plax or Cotch if they won't get Braylon.

    ...

You would actually want Plax on this team ?

    Why?

Aside from Plax being a slow ex-con a year out of prison and on the downside of his career getting paid for past accomplishments while Schilens is a young burner who hasn't done much in the league at all, I agree.

The guy never had a chance to shine in Oakland because of injuries or poor Qb play... our new WR coach from Oakland must have seen something to push for this signing...you don't put your ass out there to bring in a guy unless you are failry confident that he can produce given the right chance. Its not the greatest signing in the world but all upside. Glad it got done and he didn't walk.. I hope Nelson gets done by the end of the day...would be the best FA day so far for the jets...

I'm fine with him but until he proves he can stay on the field and produce I wouldn't slot him in as anything more than a 4

Those highlights were just from one game. So lets not judge everything on one highlight video guys. The Jets didnt sign this guy to be their clear-cut #2 WR. They will find a #2 guy
