No, Abyz, I'm not going to fall into that trap. You'll only fall back on Rex going to the AFCCG 2 years in a row.

Here's my point - A true NFL HC isn't totally clueless about one aspect of his team, like Rex did. There is no excuse to not to know that Holmes wasn't on the field at the end of the game. There is no excuse not to know that there had been trouble brewing in the locker room all season long. There was not excuse for enabling a guy like Holmes by making him a captain.....and then come up with the excuse, "well I never liked captains in the first place"

Its not the moronic statements and unfulfilled promises. Its his style of writing checks his team can't cash. With Rex its all about him and the spotlight. I don't think that style of coach can have long term success. Eventually the players stop listening.

I also didn't think he took on the Jets problems head on after the season. I know he "took responsibility", but that's like when your kids say their "sorry and won't do it again" (fat chance). Most of what I got sounded more like excuses, than leadership. Of course that's just my opinion

I can't help but be reminded of the change from Parcells to Carroll (AKA the white Herm Edwards). Parcells was the ultimate dictator, so when Carroll came in the players couldn't wait to praise Carroll's "player's coach" style. Yet by the end of his 3 year career with the Pats, his "style" got him exactly what it got Herm.-fired....because at a certain point the players stop listening. BTW this isn't to say that Parcells' style isn't short term either (as history has shown)

Just look back, Aby, at all the great coaches that have achieved long term success (10 yrs) with the same team. These are the guys who generally shun the spotlight, are disciplined, but more importantly CONSISTENT.

I know there is more than one way to be a successful HC in the NFL, but I can't help but compare BB with Rex. Forget about the super bowls, forget about all the winning seasons. Just compare how they run their programs, or in Rex's case, DON'T run their programs.

Personally I don't think that Rex is a long term answer for the Jets. Maybe in his next HC job he will have learned from his mistakes and will do better, but as it stands now, he's got a huge job ahead of him.

I think if what you say comes true,Tannenbaum will be out and a new GM will put Rex on a short leash, thinking he'd probably want his own guy. Someone with a lower profile.

You can't go from conference finals to also-ran in a short period and expect to maintain employment. That just does not happen in New York, in any sport.

My question is has Tannenbaum been told to not spend because of a tight budget? I think considering the market (New York), competition (Giants) and rabid fan base, sitting on one's hands is not an option. You know New England is going to make a big move and we've already heard that Miami and Buffalo are looking to add a top tier free agent. The Jets need proven talent, not "gambles".

Trap? I don't think so. This is a copout, a pathetic one, too. You stated that Rex may 'someday prove himself to be an NFL HC'. That distinction requires qualifications. Unless you can name those qualifications, the rest of your post is meaningless. For lack of anything resembling credibility.

Trap, my ass. Explain yourself, or scurry off as others have described you to have done. Be a man or a mouse. I'd actually like to see where you stand, since I am currently undecided.

You are speaking in generalistic terms about the FO, not specific ones.

Ever since Parcells left, there has been a Parcells culture in the FO and many times in the CS. Sutton - Parcells position coach. Mangini - Parcells asst. Tannenbaum - made by Parcells as a cap guru and suggested GM. Bradway - suggested Parcells hire.

Rex isn't an inside man. He can fail and be fired. Both Tanny and Bradway have failed for this team and lived to tell about it. Bradyway as a GM and Tannenbaum as a cap guru (Curtis Martin and Testaverde contract fiascos).

Rex has another year in the least. Tanny has another year in this position at least, if they fire him, he'll work the numbers again.

Tuna doesn't like to see his FO peeps fired, just demoted.

Guess the idea is that you'll see if shit blows up in their face this year whether you decide if Rex and Tanny have two years? Impressive non-committal statement.

Maybe I can get you tied down on one point without having you slink away too as long as we're at it. Do you believe Mark Sanchez is going to be a successful NFL quarterback with the Jets during the next two years?

    Choose wisely...

Jets draft an OLB who goes on to become a hall of gamer. Jets also draft an all pro safety in the 2nd. Then they draft the best RT NFL has ever seen in the 3rd round. They draft a WR that is only better than Jerry Rice. They draft an RB to become the next Emmit Smith. Jets go on a roll and lose in the AFCCG after taking a 6 pt lead with 15 seconds left n then giving up a TD on the kickoff. Do we fire Tanny and Rex?

Did Rex release any more faux-pas foot fetish videos? I think it comes down to that.

Is it that Day already? Or is that every day? Or every day that that site sucks ass?

I recognize this repartee, but let's pretend I didn't say that and start fresh anyway.

Do you actually plan on addressing my posts, or just making up a loser version of it that makes you feel comfortable debating? Is there some specific point in that post you quoted up there that you disagree with? Or are you just set on making yourself look foolish?

I wish we had Chicagos GM: 2 (3rds) for Brandon Marshall and Jason Campbell as a back up. Wow!

campbell being your backup is not wow worthy..

First of all I really don't get your vague references to whomever it is you think I am that I'm not. Sorry love, this is the only place where we have this relationship. Nowhere else. Anywho.

I don't pretend to narrowly pick apart your posts in the context you present them and tear you to shreds. If you think that's what I'm doing it's really not and I wish you wouldn't react with such an offensive backlash. Obviously I've responded in kind when prompted and I make no apology for that.

You're too knowledgeable to try to assert that everything you believe about a certain issue is going to be wrong. That's ridiculous you know too much about it. That doesn't mean that you're immune to having the wrong idea here or there. You seem to think it means that it does though. That's a big mistake that will only hold you back in life. I'm probing you based on what I see you saying, and trying to suss out whether your implications were what they seem to be. You do just fine at letting me know where you stand once i start throwing some heavy shit around.

That's a perfectly fine way to go about arguing in my book. I'm not trying to sharpshoot 2 words you might not have even meant to come out that way. I'm trying to talk about the issue here.

If you don't really think that Hunter is going to get abused yet again next year, by all means let me know...or whatever else it is that you feel like making this about. If not though argue it like a fucking man. Not from shady cover where you're not willing to just come out and say what you mean.

If you think it's a horrible signing that can only end badly and the backup is garbage then you're coming out and saying in March that we're fucked for this year. No big deal guys. We're just fucked. That's all.

But no you can't say that. Gotta just...oh well you know of course something good could come in and change things or one of them could surprise me...but that's like such a longshot....

    How long abyz? 10-1?

Oh well I couldn't possibly say. That would just be giving out entirely too much information about how I really feel about this. Wouldn't want to give this guy any ammunition. Nope better to just try to tease it out of patsfanken. Looking through the barrel is where I like to be. Not the other way around.

See why I can't directly quote you now Mr. Jerry Fletcher?

Since you just lu-uh-uv quoted material...here is some for you.

See how you totally ignored the entire point of my post here? I asked you whether you thought Mark Sanchez was going to succeed over the next 2 years. Then I called you out for the same thing you just called out another guy for, and told you that you'd avoid my question.

And like clockwork, you totally changed the topic in your reply. You know what I think? I think that you WON'T answer that question to me for anything that I do. Do you know what we call people like that?

Sweetheart. You quoted me with a term that I used in 2 threads 3 months ago - threads in which you never participated. You aren't what you pretend to be. I'm going to sleep now, and tomorrow there will be moderators who will be able to put an end to this completely non-football related exchange, so

Awww, look at all them words up there. If I wasn't so tired, I'd tear you up again in this thread.

Alas, I am employed by a company that pays a decent wage for me to work in the daylight, so I will have to leave you to pretending to work on whatever night shift job allows you to ignore your duties to post on the internet.

I do, however, appreciate how you came up with 'Hodormir', a term I used in 2 threads 3 months ago. You aren't what you pretend to be, but that's fine. It's fun to kick you around.

This palomino is gallopin' onto pastures less dumb than yours. Don't fret.

Great fun. Sorry I read you calling Vlad Hodormir elsewhere, shocking that people actually read threads without posting occasionally. And no, I was quoting you calling him Hodor earlier, recalling that you had called him Hodormir in the past. Enjoy the modestly paying day job. Guess you really are Jerry Fletcher huh? Do you drive a taxi?

Fuck it...cancel the season. I mean....why even play we are obviously going to be total dogshit....

Of course FA just started...draft hasnt happened yet...but fuck it....lets just blow it all up now.

    New coach...new GM...New QB...

Lets just set the organization back another 5 years, get rid of the coach that completely changed the mindset of the franchise.

THIS THOUGHT PROCESS IS WHY THIS FRANCHISE HASNT WON SHIT IN 44 YEARS!!

Starting over isn't the way to accomplish anything. Tanny and Rex's job should be just fine, Sanchez and schotty were to blame and schotty hit the ground running before he was lynched. Let's give the sporano/sanchez era begin and light our torches later.
