They could use more help at RB. I know they just got bennett but he has done anything in a couple of years. There is the herm connection and his old team. If we could get a 6th rounder that would get enough. Maybe a player with some upside

No, noone has to go right now. After week 6, when Curtis can come back, if he's able to, then someone has to go.

Well you don't get rid of the guy that's going to slam you on the cap and impede your ability to sign future talent.

Tampa Bay has the skills and players to stall anyone's running game. I think it had more with them being that good then us being that bad.

w-h-o c-a-r-e-s ??? The time of keeping players around purely because of numbers is gone. Blaylock was a mistake, he doesn't bring anything to the table for this team, keeping him around taking up a roster spot just because of his salary numbers to me is not worth it. He can't block, runs straight up with no vision, and he is coming off an injury. Our cap is in good shape now so we can absorb these mistakes from past regimes and begin to increase the talent level of this team. Time to move on, although keeping in line with this thread I doubt KC would be offering much, if anything, to get him back....

In the 2nd year of a 5 yr deal, he's virtually uncuttable. Until the NFL ditches the salary cap, everyone should care.

Now if we have enough cap room to take on all 2.5M of dead money in 2006, I'm all for it. However, I don't think we do, and still be able to afford other players. Also, Blaylock is a good special teams contributor... something everyone misses.

I don't agree, but c'est la vie. I have a different philosophy perhaps, I think you take the hits now so we can move on in the future. We will not be looking to sign any game breakers this year; this is a feeling out year to see who stays and who goes from this lackluster pool of talent. Mangini needs to determine who are "his" guys. You purge the roster this year and take the hits required, therefore in a couple of years when we are in the position that a few key FAs can put us over the top we can pounce. Dead money now does not scare me, jeez aren't we still paying Vinny and Donnie Abraham

We are not paying for Vinny any longer. We are paying for the 2nd portion of Abraham.

Remember, we may not be signing any game breakers, but you need to leave cap room available to sign guys when others go down.

2.5M of dead cash for this season could hamper our chances to even sign someone to fill a spot (remember last yr, when we had a roster of 50-51 because we could not afford to sign minimum wage guys for slots 52 and 53)

Good points, but you are looking at the cap now, I have a feeling we may be clearing up more space this year before all is said and done. Should be interesting...
