From Cimini's twitter: http://twitter.com/intent/user?screen_name=RichCimini From all indications, #Jets are out of the Manning sweepstakes. Looks like Mia, Den and Ariz.
As per ROTOWORLD ESPN New York's Rich Cimini confirms that "from all indications," the Jets are out of the hunt for free agent Peyton Manning. The Manning camp quickly sent out word that he has no interest in playing for the Jets or the Redskins. Cimini confirms that the Broncos, Cardinals, and Dolphins are left standing as the odds-on three favorites to sign Peyton Manning.
Good. Thank you Peyton for not dragging this on and on and on. At first I feared him signing with Miami, but now i almost hope he does, so it'll kick Woody's, Tanny's and to some degree Rexy's ass to get themselves focused on what we were supposed to be: A FEARED, TOUGH, AGGRESSIVE DEFENSE. They'll need to be that, to compete. I say AMEN. Hey, Sanchez and a strong D beat both Brady and Manning at home, in the playoffs. Why stray from that formula? Those teams will only fear the Jets if we can kick ass on defense. Let's face it - that didn't happen in 2011. Mario Williams anyone?
after the Nnamdi and the Eagles situation last year and how there was an 80% chance we'd land him, I don't firmly believe in much of what I hear
we were never in it, like any good organization we took an interest in a HOF QB shaking free but there was very little chance we would ever get him and all the moves made this offseason were to make Sanchez a better QB. This is GREAT news for us, now we can get back to getting Mark back on track.
Thank you NYJunc... per usual, you are a beacon of realistic light. He's not coming here, but if the Jets did NOT express interest, you all would be killing Tanny and crew for not at least investigating, Sanchez be damned. And to answer GMC... it's been said since end of season that they need to bring in competition for Sanchez. Expressing interest in Manning might serve to do that as well; It sends a sign that his job is not guaranteed, and if he doesn't improve, he will be replaced. Also, lest we forget, they fired Schottenheimer, and hired Sparano as OC, who is, by all accounts, an better OC fit for Sanchez than Schottenheimer was, system wise.
Hey, it's a good thing we sat here talking about this non-issue for the past 3 months, eh? Merge all this Manning shit already, it's littering page one.
