EDIT: Nevermind... wow, Ingram moves like a man much lighter than he is... I think he'll be a Bill or a Dolphin (depends on how big Coples character issues are).
Now now let's not over rate him. He is having a good combine for sure but we need too see what is his actual playing weight and let's have teams breakdown his tape more. Coples is still the consensus #1 DE and unless injuried will still be come draft day.
With the way the combine is going for Nick Perry, its getting to the point where he might have to be included in the Courtney Upshaw / Melvin Ingram debate. Guy put on 20lbs from his listed college weight and ran 4.5 (40), a fast 1.56 (10yrd split) and an impressive 35 reps on the BP. Leads me to believe that 1 of them will be there at 16. Might be splitting hairs at this point debating which of the 3 to take.
they will both be gone by the time that the jets pick.the best thing that the jets can do.is to trade back for extra picks.there are some interesting picks that fit well withe jets.
Yeah, and if Brady wasn't their QB, they probably wouldn't even make the playoffs with that D and those mediocre playmakers. They've had to protect Brady because he's the only great player they have on offense. He makes the mediocre playmakers better. Aside from acquiring picks in the draft, Belicheat has handled the draft abysmally pretty much since Pioli left. If he had done a better job with all the picks he's had, the rest of the NFL could forget about even coming close to the dynasty NE would have had. Your talking about the dropoff at center this year when Mangold got hurt is absurd. You're talking about the difference between a Pro Bowl C and a rookie UDFA who is too small, too weak, had zero experience, and only was with the team a few weeks. You wanna talk about completely flawed logic? It doesn't get any worse than that. You're smarter and better than that. If the Jets didn't draft Mangold they could have drafted another quality center and been fine. There were some good FA centers available that year, and some decent centers in that and the next year's draft. I know for a fact that the Jets could have drafted the Panthers center Kalil ahead of the Panthers in the following year's draft.
I don't know what your problem is, but you definitely have an attitude problem. The only thing you're right about is that none of you guys is going to change my mind. Your logic and examples are more flawed than anyone else's, yet your arrogance is overwhelming and has been for quite a while. Your example of the Packers shows how truly clueless you are. With the exception of RB, the Packers are set on offense with playmakers and have several on the defensive side of the ball. Their OL had gotten old and they had either missed on OL picks or neglected it for years. They could not only afford then to use high draft picks on the OL to protect Rodgers, but needed to. I said nothing about loading up on shit on the OL, but that's typical for your cynical, snarling, arrogant, flawed logic posts. If you think the Jets have to use their first round picks to get good OL and can't find them in any other round, then you're a bigger, more clueless moron than I already thought you were. Also, I don't know where you're getting that crap about WRs, because I've frequently said that this is one of, if not THE strongest drafts for WRs in quite some time, if not ever, and that the Jets can find very good WR prospects in other rounds, so quit lying and twisting my words. This is the last time I'm wasting my time or energy to respond to your ignorant, classless, uncivil ass.
.... and those comments lead to my tream you with the same manner. You call someone a POS and then claim they are classless... you need to look in the mirror, but you won't. Too much Ego, too little smarts.
I already edited that out, because I realized it was too much, but this is the 2nd time in two weeks he has responded to me in that tone and enough was enough. I thought you were a good guy, but see now i was wrong. The both of you should have been banned with the rest.
Cmon guys lets not turn debate into an insult barrage. No need for it, no matter what personal afflictions you may have with one another.
Bwahahaha! Are you serious? Any person, with at least a little bit of football knowledge knows that the big guys up front are the biggest key to success. It doesn't mean jack if you have all-pros in skill positions if your O-line can't block for shit. For example, compare the success of the '09 or '10 Jets vs this years product. How much impact did a change at a "lowly" position such as RT have on the Jets? Do you know how many of the Jets O-linemen in '08 and '09 were 1st round picks? Have you ever watched the Patriots play and the way that Brady just sits in the pocket for 10 seconds and then delivers a strike, while no one of the defense touches him. That time and protection is not created by the skill position players. Anyways, thaks for the new signature
Dareus does not have a long history to say he is a star in the NFL yet. In saying this I really can't think or many or any star NFL players from Saban's defense.
lol joeklecko nick mangold is the best center in the league by far and he was a first round pick. him and ferguson are two of this teams best draft picks ever
and why should we take a defensive end? if bart scott gets traded [please dont let it happen rex!] and if plaxico leaves we need receivers and linebackers. and we need a right tackle but i hope we sign a good free agent there because i have no faith in hunter and vlad.
Relax, fellas. As for the Packers' playmakers, where were they all drafted? Grant: 7th Starks: 6th Cobb: 2nd Driver: 7th Finley: 3rd Jennings: 2nd Jones: 3rd Nelson: 2nd You can find players anywhere. They just have a much higher rate of flaming out the later you draft them because they're usually less talented or more flawed. To me, there aren't many ways the Jets can screw this up. We've needed a pass rusher forever, if we get one, that would be awesome. Barron would be the safety we've been dying for. However, I'm leaning to the offensive side of the ball. Richardson, Floyd, and DeCastro are all studs and would all be huge for us. There's a reason why Cs and OGs aren't drafted that high. 16th is in the range where the super-elite at that position start to go. If DeCastro is that good, I won't complain.
This might no be popular but I would get the best pure pass rushing OLB in the first and pray that Martin falls to the second....
I'm guessing my problem is an attitude problem, then? That's pretty much all you needed to post. You're consistently waving off other people's arguments without actually saying anything of substance, yet you expect people to take you seriously? Banned with the rest, eh? I might be arrogant, but it's only because I was here to build this part of the forum when it started and the LAST thing I want is it to turn into the main forum pt 2. You coming in here, making nonsense arguments, and then saying I should be banned is like going into someone's house, kicking dirt on the floor, and asking the owner to leave.
So Green Hurricane, as it stands right now, post combine and pre FA. With all the existing roster quandries... Let's say the Jets have an opportunity to get anyone besides Luck, Griffin, Claiborne, Kalil, Blackmon and Reiff. Who are the top 3 left on your Jets' board?
