Does this mean there are some takers? If we cut him it's 7.2 mill in dead money (so no way we cut him). If we trade him we get a 3 mill cap hit and save 2.9 What this means is either we find a trade partner who'll pay us next to nothing to get him, or we keep him another season and cut him in 2013 with only 1.5 mill in dead salary money. With that said I don't think the Jets (and Rex) want to get rid of him, but more of the Jets granting Scott the opportunity to find a team where he'll be more appreciated. And if he doesn't they'll be more than willing to bring him back. What about the Indianapolis Colts? Chuck Pagano coached this guy right? I'm sorry... 11 draft picks? DOn't get your hopes too high for compensatory picks...
I wonder if the Eagles would bite... they are in desperate need of ILB help and leadership on D, bart could provide them with both. maybe a 4th round pick that could become a 3rd based on performance? by going this route, the eagles could let jackson walk and draft Floyd/Jeffery/Wright in round 1
Usual seven plus compensatory. Although I'm not sure how we would replace Scott by using a bunch of near-valueless seventh rounders.
I don't think we'll have 4 comp picks... that said... Adam Schein @AdamSchein The Jets giving Bart Scott permission to seek a trade is like my wife giving me permission to date JLo. Bwhahaha
Allegedly 1 to 7 plus Edwards/Coleman/Harris/Smith. I'm not sure how reliable this information is, it's tripped me up before.
I could see them getting 6th and 7th round picks for Ellis, Edwards, Coleman and Smith, and they didn't sign anyone of note so that would be four, but I'd be surprised if they get any high picks. They also get a pick for Lowrey but traded a pick for Schlauderaff.
Bad idea Unless it's for a 4th round pick or better, I think it's a bad idea. He is overpaid, but I'd rather see him stay on the team with a reduced salary. Last year, I had a feeling he would disappoint when he said he wouldn't talk as much as trash. If he can get his old swag back, I think he can still be useful to the team. Mauga is also unproven.
Teams can only get 3 comp picks max i believe. However we got a pick from trading Lowery, lost one from the Schaeldorf trade w Packers, should be 10 draft picks total
I believe the number is 4, but they all likely will be in rounds 6-7 considering who we lost. Since Ellis received a high salary, he may escalate to a 5. And I do not believe Burress qualifies to knock one out.
Slightly different take: Jenny Vrentas @JennyVrentas Lewis said they spoke about Scott, Jets "patching up" relationship. If can't be done, Jets to provide list of interested trade partners #nyj Jenny Vrentas @JennyVrentas Lewis said a trade was not specifically requested by Scott, and permission was not granted for him to seek one. #nyj
This seems to be like some sort of passive aggressive pissing match between the FO and Bart over some argument that we don't know about yet.
